This is not your regular, everyday, OBDII Scan Tool. This is a higher-level scan tool that can perform various functions for testing on your car. Firstly, it will of course do all the same types of things that a regular scan tool will do, such as read check engine codes and clear them, give you live data, and let you see the status of the readiness monitors. But it does a whole lot MORE on top of it.
This scan tool allows you to gain additional information that a base model scan tool will not pull. It can give you the status of certain things on your vehicle that you may not know. For example, if you were having a problem with your power windows, is it the switch or something else? With this scan tool, it can tell you the current state of the switch. So if you press it, and nothing changes on the scan tool, you will know it's a problem with the switch or the wiring going to it, and not with the motor or regulator. This can be extraordinarily beneficial in many cases.

This was a very helpful and thorough video, thank you! The other reviews I watched don't show any fault codes and the actual troubleshooting you can do when you have them. Well done :)

Watching video as we speak does this unit do Crank And Cam sensor relearn process? Can't find answer online.

You do know I'm just a guy who did a review of this, right? As stated at 2:47 in the video, "The functions that are available are going to depend on the particular vehicle that you are using this on, it really is going to display a lot of information, but not necessarily allow you to change things". For the particular thing you're looking for, intrinsic to the engine, I'd recommend you look up to the sky, because you'll probably find the price of the scan tool you need for that up there.

Most likely it can. Check with FOXWELL to be sure, and make sure to give them your year, make, and model.

At over 20 minutes in length, this was a _fairly comprehensive_ review. With that in mind, if this tool did that, wouldn't you think I would have shown that, to tout it as a feature? All it takes is a little thought. If you're looking for a tool that can read the real odometer, there are 3 things to know: 1. The real odometer isn't necessarily real if the ECU has been changed at one point or another. 2. If you have any reason to believe the mileage on the odometer is incorrect, trust your gut instinct and don't walk, but run away from that car. 3. If you still want a scan tool than can read that, you're looking at one that costs about 20 times the price.

Do you know what model would Foxwell would let you adjust items, like the Panic or other adjustable items that you mensioned in the video?

Stupid question, but does the car have to be running for it to scan the car?

No, it doesn't have to be running. You will need the key in the normal run position, where it would be with the engine running, for it to scan though. Also bear in mind that if you're looking at live data, obviously a lot of numbers will be zero or erroneous. But for a quick check to see if there are codes or other problems, no, the engine does not need to be running.

There may not be a parameter that shows you that information. There are only so many sensors on an engine.

My nt644 elite is only showing ECU, transmission, and airbag modules. Nothing else. Just updated it. Any ideas why so much is missing? It also can't detect the vin automatically

The available options and automatic VIN acquisition are dependent on the VEHICLE it's plugged into to support them.

This video was 20 minutes long already, if I showed you every last thing, it would be over 4 hours long, and I guarantee even you wouldn't watch it. Besides, how would knowing that my transmission temperature was 179° brighten your day exactly?

@@jaykay18 when servicing a Toyota cvt transmission, the fluid temp is how you adjust the level. If the scanner will not show transmission fluid temp, it is useless for servicing a Toyota cvt transmission.

@@tomwinslow5086 First off, never buy a CVT. Secondly, if you're just changing the fluid, and not actually servicing anything inside, that information has no bearing. You measure the amount that comes out and put the same amount back in. If you are servicing internals of the transmission, you clearly shouldn't be playing with dinky scan tools like this.

@@jaykay18 putting the same amount back is what you do when you don't have the proper tools. You are assuming the level was correct to begin with. Let's say you replace a leaking axle seal. The correct method is to use the temperature. At a specific temperature you open the level bolt and check for fluid. The point is, it's a very useful parameter for servicing a cvt. I do agree that cvt transmissions are not the best. But because of mileage standards, it's hard to find vehicles without them. All the manufacturers are going to them.

@@tomwinslow5086 Excellent point indeed. If you're leaking, there's no way to know what the correct level was, and indeed the temperature and the whole procedure is what needs to be done to refill to the proper level. Again, for that, you'd probably want a really good scan tool, not an inexpensive one. I know plenty of vehicles made today without CVTs. I'll never buy one. I can't drive slip-sliding through the "gears" it doesn't have. Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer of a particular tool you are interested in and give them the make and model of your vehicle and have them verify it can tell you the fluid temperature. If they insist that it does, yet when you get it, it doesn't, return it and the process starts again. A vehicle with a leaking axle seal and a CVT likely isn't that old, which states a lot about the quality of the rest of the vehicle. If the vehicle does have a lot of mileage, it's likely highway miles, which bolsters the fact even more so.

@@jaykay18 I won't own a diesel truck filling it up alone puts me off of it lol I've got a 4 cylinder diesel cruze and it's fun as hell decently cheap on gas 75 to fill but the mpg is nuts I've gotten 62 mpg on a 2 hour trip which is amazing hahaha

@@jaykay18 Mines still decently high but when I'm averaging high 40s for normal driving compared to normal gas cars being like 28 to 35 it definitely helps alot
