i love how it's based on the british A4 Steam locomotives, they were known, specially by one of them, Mallard for being the World Record taker for steam locomotive top speed, it's funny to see it taking freight since it actually happened once in the lifetime of these engines

Right, this is possibly going to sound a tad odd, but... your content is endearingly reminding me of my dad. The way you talk, the accent, the humor, the jokes, down to the sheer precious joy and enthusiasm regarding the trains is how i'd imagine him play this game and modpack if he were still around. He was a massive massive train enthusiast and built several n-gauge tracks and dioramas over the years, including a rather large track inside my room that he had to take down in bits because it wouldn't fit through the door, sadly. I'm sure he'd've loved to watch your current playthrough together. Nevertheless, I really appreciate your content and wanted to thank you dearly for it. very cool train i would say it looks more like the mallard which holds the steam record post ww2 and worked for L N E R (short for London Northern Eastern Railways) as a passenger train and now is at the York railway museum

If only there was a framed vault block that could be used to allow for the creation of train cars that are pretty much all storage without using unnecessary blocks/framed blocks for hiding said vaults. The use of framed stairs, slabs, and slopes is okay, but framed item vaults would be such a cool block.

That gantry crane gave me flashbacks to that awful mission in GTAV where you have to work the cranes in Los Santos harbour.

If you keep having issues getting into tight spaces, grab the "GoProne" mod. It basically sets things so you can just hit a single keyboard button to go into the 1-block-tall "prone/crawling" position at will, instead of having to rely on trapdoors and stuff.

Intresting quark about late LNER tenders is that they have corridors to let one crew go into the coaches and another to replace them from the coaches

Carriages are also a correct term for train cars, but only if they are designed for passengers.

I can't wait for the Create Aereonautic to come out, then all the transportation issue will be fixed by magnets connecting movable containers to other contraptions.

corecton, A4 Pacific Mallard was the locomotive to set the speed record. Sir Nigle Gresly is a sister locomotive to Malard.

Protip: You can click the keys onto the controller to lock/unlock all connected drawers at once instead of having to repeat it for every drawer individually. They will retain their status even if you remove the controller after.

The decoration was amazing, the loading machinations were crazy, great episode and I can't wait for the movie! You've made everything way too complicated, but it turns out so much more interesting than trivial get-it-done solutions. I do worry about all the framed blocks tho....

This was indeed a tricky problem. My sollution to it was to uniform my trains and have standard lengths for everything. Have the exchange looking down and chute in what it needs.

You should have a thing under the gantry shaft loading area that puts blocks in from underneath the train. It would be fairly simple, youde just have to temporarily remove terrain and glue the top to the bottom with a large empty space. Im not sure if that will work though. (Edit) hadnt seen but thata exactly what you did.

@FoxyNoTail - You can use the quantify/lock keys directly on the drawer controller to lock all drawers! Also use a storage downgrade for the drawers to only allow 1 stack of an item then use upgrades x2 will allow 2 stacks or x3 for 3 stacks etc...

You can have the gantry stop at every portable storage interface (turning the gantry contraption back into a structure), and then it would connect.

One tip for your tenders, most of the space is actually taken up by the engine's water tank. So the back of the tender is usually just covered up and doesn't have coal it it.

You should one day add a 4014 big boy with articulation would be a cool freight train to have

This is just something I myself wanted to point out, but I think you should change when you use the Nailed Spruce Wood, and instead of using it every block for the supports, you should use it when there's an intersection, and the rest be just normal spruce. It'd be a nice change and would be less jarring.

there is a mod called Create Steam 'n Rails where if you give a deployer a wrench (through a funnel or chute) it can disassemble trains in the station

A tip for making good looking trains is to end it with a break van or caboose. Great job doing the A4 though!

The gantry way should work. You only have to fiddle with the timing so that the gantry would stop when every interface meet each other, when stopped it will will be placed and stop being a contraption

Alright, I have a couple of "loopholes"/solutions if you run into a similar situation in the future (correct to my knowledge, but some may not work). "loophole" 1: you can set the gantry system to become a structure when it stops, but this means it no longer has the connected inventory of a contraption, which is why things won't transfer properly, so your inventory *has to* be directly connected to the item interface on the *gantry* side, not the train side. "loophole" 2: you could just build a double item interface (one up, one down) permanently into the structure of the loading station. This means the contraption is offloading to a structure, and the train is loading from a structure. However, this comes with the drawback that the train may get confused about whether or not it's finished loading, so some advanced signaling work may be necessary. "solution" 1: I'm 90+ percent certain that you can actually load item vaults on and off of trains (the real version of what you're simulating). I've seen it done in the past, I'm just not 100 percent on how it was achieved. "solution" 2 (not a solution): use the train station signal to activate the gantry when the train is in the station. It means the gantry doesn't actually load the train, but it will at least be animated as if it were. On another note, I've never thought to use toolboxes for stack limiting items in contraptions, and I'm definitely gonna have to use that. Edit: I commented too soon and you already thought of the gantry moving while the train is loading.
