I completely agree to an extent. It depends on the submission. If your ripping heel hooks after your opponent verbally taps, thats a career ending injury potentially, Or a Kimura, worh potentially getting a spiral fracture. But an armbar, I say snap it on this kid. He needs karma in his life to really learn.

This was truly a pleasure to watch. I've been looking forward to seeing what would happen when Pat goes against a capable grappler that doesn't just flop into the legs and the result is exactly what I thought. It's simply not possible to respect a guy that breaks peoples legs on purpose then jumps up and celebrates while showing zero regard for his opponent at all.

effortless? no way. getting past his guard and going to mount were really energetic movements. He was physical the whole way, if he had not been strong shahgholi would have swept him. He did a great job, and very honorable not to break his arm given the circumstances, but it wasn't effortless. Not to mention his preparation in advance which gave him a game plan to avoid those leg locks. Not to mention all his other years of preparation in bjj and lifting and wrestling or whatever. Effortless is not the word I would use to describe this at all. Honorable and victorious and very methodical and physical. It seemed like he pounced like a tiger at all the right moments. Awesome performance. Gordon Ryan looks more effortless, or even Craig Jones. But I'm not taking anything away from him. I'm a fan now of Mason Fowler.

Leg locks are purely situational in a street fight. Not something you would use as a primary strategy or attack. But there are plenty of situations where leg locks are a practical attack in fights with strikes. Butt scooting, on the other hand, is just a surefire way to get your teeth kicked down your throat.
