Very much in favour of strategy 2. If the doubles are rubbish in 34 I'm thinking of dead ending into 37 with 15 doubles though and FH38. Leaves the flexibility to either defend the final day by copying mini league rivals team or chasing the rank upside.

Gianni you didn't mention DGW 28!!.. The spanner in the works when it comes to buying for GM29 is buying for 28 getting in Solanke and possibly other Bournemouth and Luton Assets!...

Hey Gianni, great video as always! Regarding FH in 29 and not having to offload good players, I would disagree as for example City have tough fixtures from GW 27 to GW 30 ( United, Liverpool, blank and Arsenal ) so no reason to keep City or indeed Liverpool and Arsenal players. Even if you have to take a hit or 2 for GW 29 I think it’s better to FH in 34. So, TC in 25 or 28, WC in 31, FH in 34 and BB in 37 😉

Was favouring strategy 1 till a couple of weeks ago but have seen the light and will probably be utilising strategy 2 instead now. Will need a -8 hit to have 9 players playing in GW29 which I'm okay with but if more than 3 fixtures are on, I may have 10 or even 11 players. Have to say your graphics make the strategies much clearer to understand. Thanks, Gianni!

Great stuff Gianni that was great. Problem I have is I only have 1 current player (Richi) that doubles in 29 not sure it's worth the hits to get a half decent team... might be forced to go with #1 or a variant on it.. Cheers.

Great vid, thanks! Yea they're the two strategies I'm debating too. Think I'm leaning WC30 FH34 BB37 but I feel uneasy about the gap between WC and BB. Feels like injuries will inevitably scupper it. I can also only get to about 8 players in GW29, unless we get some cup upsets. But currently I think this strategy edged it, mainly due to FH34 feeling like the perfect time to FH.

Great video as always Gianni. I want to do Gordon to De Bruyne but I’m 0.1 short. Aside downgrading a player to fund the 0.1, can double price rises on a player i have (e.g Jota) offset the 0.1?

yeah i dont hate that at all. WC 36 could work but only allows 3 weeks of your new team - does allow you to pick players with great final 3 fixtures or something to play for tho

Nice. Aligns with the fixture predictions for 34/37 that I had worked out. For me, you’re missing two things (or just underplaying a bit) that make strategy 1 much better than 2 (and I don’t think it’s just how my team is set up). My team currently set up to navigate bgw26 (3 outfield blanks on bench), x2 players for dgw28, free hit bgw29, and ride GW30-34 with regular transfers, to land with perhaps X3 Arsenal, x1-3 Palace/Everton combined, and dead end to a GW35-36 WC without having to compromise on player or team quality. Free hit BGW29 worth around 25 points to me, vs the 3 players I would field that week if I don’t waste transfers to players that will score less in the weeks before that. Free hit GW34 needs x3 arsenal (can get there with transfers), and then maybe benefit of maxing palace and Everton players (4?) that might be out scored by single game week players anyway (MAN vs Shu for example). That’s worth fewer than 25 points. Then I can WC much closer to BB without worrying about injuries (huge upside)

Thinking of loading up on 3 City(have them) 3 pool and maybe 1 Brentford. Problem is I then have 6 blank players 26. How about using FH fw 26?

Can I ask everyone when 'dead ending' you are taking out popular players like city and arsenal assets with value tied up in them. Anyone worried you won't be able to rebuy them cost of lost value. If you lose 1-2m in team value for selling players before GW29 they won't drop enough to re-buy them at same price when WC in WC30/31.

true dead ending will lead to selling good assets and if buying back you will lose value BUT team value is less important as the weeks go on so i don't mind sacrificing some pounds for points!

@GianniButtice_ Those with BB still left, it makes it more tricky as you can't just load up on cheap bench players either. Gonna become tricky. In reality, I do get your position, It might mean difference between Son or Madds for some with value lost as an example on WC.

If Luton don’t blank 29 I’m definitely wildcarding 27 meaning 3 Luton, 3 Bournemouth (inc both gks) in 28 plus probably bb and save transfer. Then Solanke to Toney, Bournemouth def to a playing def to get 11 out in 29. Free hit 34 and make transfers from 30 to get doublers in 37.

I think im wildcarding for gw26 cause i just feel my team is lacking in so many departments and it would require hits in the next few weeks to keep it competitive. And then my plan is to play it by ear, if i can save my free hit in 29 i will and use it for a double gameweek for more potential upside. Worse case scenario i free hit in 29 and build towards the doubles with free transfers for bb in gw37

Strategy 1 for me. If I had that FH in 34 I still wouldn’t use it to bring in 11 DGW players. A good single GW player always trumps a bad DGW player. Quite happy to have 6 or 7 doublers that week and wildcard out of it. Plus, I wouldn’t want to be choosing my City/Liverpool/Arsenal players for DGW37 at GW31 when you’ve no idea when the title race will be done and dusted

You really need to wait until the FA Cup 5th round is played at the end of February before deciding, then you'll know who's going to play or blank in GW29. Let's hope Luton beat Man City and Southampton beat Liverpool!

we know there wont be many more fixtures in 29 though - sure if we get an upset and we get two more good teams playing it changes slightly but for now we can still target teams like spurs and villa who we know play

If you have a template team, there is no way you can field 9-10 players for Strategies 2. More likely you can only get 6 including Son, Maddy and Watkins with some luton def. Could you elaborate how to do it? if you have 3 city , 2 liverpool and arsenal etc from week 25

Dead ending into GW29 is not for me. The amount of value you'd lose for players you don't want in the long run is just not worth it. So for me is just normal transfers upto 29 and decide if the upside of freehit 29 is worth it or just field 6 players then. For now I'm thinking: Triple C GW25, Free hit GW29, Wildcard GW31, Bench boost GW 37.

I'd wait till press conference on friday, Trent looks like he's out but Gomez is back and I think he would be favoured after his good form. Klopp will want to protect and use Bradley sparingly, though I feel he will get plenty games this season.

Buying players that you need because of blank gameweek but not necessarily want long term. You dead end your team and then use wild card to sort out your team after the blank.
