This is a video going back in time about a game maker that provided an easy and accessible workflow for virtually anyone that wanted to make a shooter, but didn't have the knowledge or experience to make one from scratch.
It's an engine that's been dated long ago. But it also captures that early 2000s FPS spirit, and still has a strong community behind it, making interesting projects and pushing it's boundaries.

This game engine has filled me with so many happy memories. I remember getting home and calling my friend over to mess around in the games we made, I don't think I ever uploaded any of the games I made with this engine, but I do remember sending whatever I made to my online friends on Facebook, seeing them have fun with something I made just filled me with motivation, and it still is a great motive for why I still am into indie game making. I completely forgot about this engine after switching computers, thanks for reminding me of it! You just gained a new sub, keep on making videos.

I had a lot of fun and learned a lot of skills with this tool and on the old forums back in its golden age from around 2008 to 2013 :)

I never knew I'd see a FPS Creator video to this day, pretty sad that all it's reputation got trashed to oblivion when it's clearly players that had an idea of selling shovel ware for dirt cheap

GameCreators made a comprehensible game maker that anyone can make a game with. Consequently, it means shovelware spawns from it too. But that's not GameCreators fault at all, and some projects have shown that you can actually make something decent with fps creator, like Kshatriya Prologue for instance.

@@brokenportals oops, sorry I didn't respond, but yeah it's still amazing they made this kind of editor. Spent plenty of time in it as much as the Far Cry map editor haha. Though yeah there is indeed some great projects that can be found

A very good video and a great choice of topic. Looking forward to a video about the older "Pie In The Sky 3D Game Creation System" :-)

Thank you for this good video about FPSC. Right now I am in the process of creating a game with FPS Creator. I am retired, and use FPSC as a hobby. I enjoy the ease of use as you mentioned. I have no scripting, programming, or modeling skills, but am able to make a decent game. I don't care what the critics say, TGC's accomplished what they set out to do, and that was to make an easy game creating software.

great video! FPSC was a huge part of my life and ever since i discovered it when i was like 7 i wanted to become a game dev, i always thought this engine had a lot of potential despite its shortcomings and being a broken mess sometimes, and it gets a lot of undeserved flak in my opinion. i've used it for about 11 years but never actually made anything good cause for most of that timespan i was a dumb kid lmao. nowadays though i make mods for games like half life, but i still do mess around with FPSC once in a while lol

This engine is very underestimated imo, just takes a bit of patience & work to make a fun game in it. :) Im even working on a game just using v1.0 and so far, its going smoothly.

appreciate it! Im trying to prove you can make a fun fast paced game, like quake, in fpsc. I have a devlog on my channel for it, id share a link but youtube keeps removing the comment. lol Ive hardly seen any fast paced fps games in this engine It was originally inspired by quakes movement and goldeneye's destructible items (exploding chairs, boxes, etc) and at this point I just keep adding more and more to it lmao Anyway, Great video! subbed 💙

In FPS Creator, can you import custom assets and weapons?
@brokenportals

As long as your assets support the format FPSC uses you should be able to.

Your Doom Eternal gameplay is ADHD. Why are you swapping weapons so frequently?
@Nachy

Because that's the optimal way to play Eternal, pretty much a necessity in higher difficulties.

I think when it comes to Game Engines or really any program, Easy-Accessibility comes with the cost of Customization. FPS Creator while easy to use, lacks features due to it being very easily accessible. It’s good for beginners, but for people who want more options, it can be a downside.
@brokenportals

Yeah, that was addressed regarding seasoned developers or people that wanted more flexibility.
