Sarah, losing a pet is just as difficult as losing a family member because your cat was a member of your family. Take the time to grieve over the loss of your beautiful cat. Being out in nature is very healing. Take care.

Sarah you inspire me so much. You are the main reason I plein air. I started watercolor after my dad died and my divorce from my abusive ex- husband. I needed something to help relax my mind. I just started watercolor and I discovered your channel 2 years ago. You are such an inspiration too many. When I need encouragement to go out and paint I put on your video and once again inspired. Thank you so much for sharing. I too am a introvert and I know I struggle trying to do my videos so I am so amazed by yours. Happy painting my friend 🤗💕

Sarah…. I love watching you paint and Scotland is a place I would love to visit some day. What I love MOST about your videos is your relaxing but deliberate way you communicate. Clear, slow thoughtful and meaningful speaking. I am so sorry for your sorrow. I personally understand. Losses change us in a way that is difficult to understand but you will work through it in your own time. You are aware and thats half the battle.

What a beautiful and peaceful landscape! Being in nature is definitely a healing experience. I have been a pet owner for 30 years -this involved dealing with loss from time to time. I got better by concentrating in things that give me joy, remembering my beloved pet positive and thankfully. I have always opted to find a new pet -life is simply better shared with a 🐶 or a 😺. The new found joy somehow finds a place with the loss in a cycle. I wish you strength, many fond memories and a hopeful Outlook. Sending hugs 🤗

I am struggling with Long-covid. One of the things I have had to grieve is losing my ability to go out and do Plein-air like I use to. Currently trying to find my healthy baseline and have pulled back out of most things. Eventually when my body is more settled I hope to venture out into my backyard or have someone drive me to a local spot to start again at painting outdoors. Plein-air painting is so good, but believe it or not it can cause my heart to race. If I over exert myself I can be in bed for days. As you said in this video, I am living vicariously through you, longing to be back outside painting. I will admit to crying through this video, grief as you know continues to unfold. I am grateful that I am still painting at home, albeit only for a couple of hours every day. You have a gift and even in your grief people who are also grieving can feel connection and peace. Thanks so much for your generosity. Hope my like and comment helps support you, as you are supporting me in this isolating health journey. All the best to you and your little family.

I do live vicariously through you so thank you very much for your time and work and fabulous paintings that comfort and inspire me I love your videos they are so beautiful and calming I’m going on 77 and didn’t get out much started to be more active when I got a kitten 6 weeks ago when Muji was six weeks old and he keeps me pretty busy when not snuggling I lost my love of 17 years Haiku who slept in my arms at night two years ago and it took a long time for me to be ready for another kitty who came to me from a friend so it has been 19 years since I had a kitten who gets into everything lol in my studio which is the main room no living room or couch just studio which my husband also shares I always look to see if you have posted I adore your loveliness and gentle spirit as much as your art that shows just that. Thank you for enhancing my life big time. From the coast of British Columbia Canada another beautiful paradise on earth Susan❤️🥰❤️

Thank you for sharing with us Sarah. Sorry to hear of your loss. I enjoy both your channels, both seeing your paint, & seeing the scenery of Scotland. For over 2-1/2 years I have been dealing with chronic Lyme disease, and have not worked since then, and don’t get out and about much as a result. I enjoy nature, hiking and working out, but all that is on hold. If I’m having a good day, I may venture out for a walk in my neighborhood, but those walks are even few and far between, and I walk slow now too. Anyway, I enjoy your 2 channels and seeing all your videos. Please know I am living vicariously through your videos, and your videos bring a smile to my face. Thank you for sharing your painting, your thoughts, and your videos, with us.

It is indeed a rare privilege in this world to be able to experience nature on your own. I'm lucky to live in the Tasmanian mountain wilderness and can go walking in wild places and never see another person. Before we moved here I loved the ocean and missed it so much when we first came here. On the occasions when I take a break by the sea, after a couple of days I'm yearning to go back to higher elevations. Even towns with a population of 150 people seem unbearably crowded to me. I am a person of the mountains now. Grieving is challenging and frustrating because you have no control over it. It's easy to feel guilty when those first moments of joy start to creep back into your life, like you are somehow betraying your loved one. You are not. It's good and natural and Vader wants that for you. I love this painting, it seems to portray both your melancholy and your hopefulness and joy. Lovely.

Dear Sarah, I‘ve been watching your videos for quite a fes months now and would like to share my reasons: First of all I enjoy that stunning scottish landscape every single time I see it! Secondly, your gouache paintings are so inspiring and helpfull that I started to do some small gouache landscape paintings (with your brushes) without ever painting landscape before and last but not least they are so relaxing that I love to watch them before I go to sleep and whenever I don‘t, I miss them! Thank you so much for sharing. And I entirely understand your sorrow after your loss and the time you need to get over it (can we ever?) …

I'm 54 years old Finnish guy. My plan is to make it to Lapland when I hit 60. Small cabin far from everything. I'm very much like you. I have few friends, but sometimes I go for months without talking to anyone. I'm socially skilled, but prefer to be by myself. I lost my cat in April, he was 21 years old and stopped eating, so I had to make the hardest decision in my life and let vet to put him to sleep. I picked up watercolors and gouache recently and making small progress learning. I have learned a lot by watching your videos, so thank you for making these!

The main thing I really like about your videos is that you are not afraid of the quiet during filming. To me it’s so much better to have quiet than trying to hear chatter. What you say is important but what you don’t say is important too.

Sarah, it is pure escapism for mine. You take me personally away to another world. Beautiful places like Scotland where i most likely may never visit. I appreciate your wonderfully simple and intuitive insights into art and the world we live in. Your posts are refreshing and very easy to listen to. The music you choose is always soothing. You come across as a sensitive, intelligent and wonderfully humble human being. You appear to have this calm soothing unpretentious nature. Talented and inspiring painter to. Wolfy is one lucky dude! Lol Sarah, your content is truly like a mini holiday for me where the bonus is, that I learn to be a better artist. I'm truly surprised more people don't follow you here on YT. Thank you for all you do for us all, and we're all sorry to hear about Vader.

Another lovely video. Such beauty. It took me a long time after any of my pets deaths to feel normal again. And because they were such a part of my life, I felt like I was betraying them moving forward. I think about Vader every time I watch one of your videos. Memories keep our loved ones alive. Painting keeps memories too. You'll remember your day every time you look at your work. That's such a good thing. Thank you for sharing.

I particularly love your sky in this video. The whole painting is lovely, but I really love the sky. Regarding your heartbreak, I completely understand & you have my heartfelt sympathy and (vitual) hugs. I've had lots of cats over the years, all of whom I loved dearly, but in 2010 I adopted a mostly blind stray cat that wandered into a neighbor's garage. My husband used to comment that I became this cat's Mommy - I named her BC (short for Blind Cat), and she was a part of our family for 12 years and my constant companion when I was in the house. I had to say goodbye to her in November 2022 and I still miss her every single day.

Thanks for sharing Sarah. I have spent a lot of time taking in your channel. You have, and continue to, work very hard to travel your life's journey. Love your inspiration. I know you miss Vader. I had a white short hair with swimming pool blue eyes for 13 years. He was my best little buddy. I have moved along and just see him as a book mark of joy that was just gifted to me. His name was Kasper. I could tell Vader was full of himself by your video. He came to be with you for a little while, wasn't it fantastic?

Breathtakingly beautiful scenery and stunningly captivating painting, Sarah! I know your pain all too well. I also know that the reason your paintings have taken a quantum leap in expression of the moment is because of the gifts that Vader gave you in life and in his passing. I have found that when I feel lowest, focusing on the gifts instead of the loss helps me to get through the feeling of emptiness and into a higher vibration where I can feel their closeness. Being in nature as you stated helps you feel better because nature operates at high frequencies: look at living cells under a microscope and you will see how fast they vibrate! You are an HSP (highly sensitive person) and therefore are highly impacted by the frequencies of your environment and the people and animals around you. Just like striking a tuning fork in a room will cause another tuning fork in the room to vibrate in resonance, a resonant balance is struck among the components of any environment whether living or inanimate. There are books written on this topic which I highly recommend because they helped me cope and even learn to shift the frequencies at will. There is no timetable for grief. There is always great grief where there was great love. The one pitfall that traps people is feeling guilt as if you are in some way responsible for everything that happens. I have found that what I am really responsible for is doing the best I can do with the resources available to me in the moment. Every experience is there to teach us more about how to live loving, to make us more aware of connections and the ultimate Unity of all that is and the fact that we CANNOT be separate from the Unity of that Pure Unconditional Love because it is the essence of who we are. Bless you for sharing YOUR Essence so generously with the world.

Thank you for this (and all other!) video! I'm one of those persons who would love to visit Scotland one day but cant right now. And even when I can one day, I maybe never be able to see all those remote places you show because Im disabled and not that mobile. Im so thankful to see all those beautiful places through your pictures - the painted and the moving ones! And I dont know if its helpful for you, but I had some very sudden and for me very hard losses in my life - and while I cant promise that everything will be fine one day (because every person is different and I cant tell the future!) and I still have days I cry and my heart feels broken - those days get fewer and fewer with time, at least for me. It got easier to remember the good memories without feeling the huge pain of grieve too. But it takes time - and how long it takes is different! From person to person, from loss to loss - please dont feel you need to be "fine" by any arbitrary date only because someone says "by now you should be fine" or something.

Your description of The Perfect Location matches my own ... and it's the Pacific coastline, specifically Mendocino county, California. Redwood groves right on the coastline. So perfect! 🥰

You inspired me to buy a portable painter and do some pleinair painting! I find this little gadget so useful! Thanks for inspiring the purchase! Right now there's a lot of smoke here in the Pacific northwest in USA so I am painting with my portable painter inside :). Glad it's better in your neck of the woods. It looks gorgeous in your video!

As someone that struggled over and over and has given up on Gouache i just love seeing you master it. And as someone from norther Germany I totally get the Scottish weather, same here ;) Not one day goes past without thinking about our beloved dog. I feel you, Sarah. Seeing natures beauty and the wonders of just being is a huge part of me since I was a little kid. I am that kid that would climb into the trees, sit in the crown and just sing out loud. Sometimes my grief felt like fear of loosing this special connection, because of all the hours and hours I would spent in nature with our dog, wind in our face, together. ❤️

I often “like” videos I watch but tend to forget to comment....but I know how important it is for your content creators. I love your videos! They are very relaxing and peaceful to watch.

Sarah...you absolutely are inspiring. Someday I'll get to Scotland...it looks beaut. But the reason I watch your videos is because I want to learn what you know about gauche, plein air and all things watercolor. On your comment about your grief . Remember to give yourself time. It will take however long it does. Allow yourself the time you need. It's okay to feel sad. Our fur kids are just like people in our lives. Take care. Paint on! Your work is beautiful.❤

It takes a while with grief. To me, it comes in waves. Feel free to share paintings you make when in the depths of sorrow. It can be pretty healing for others too. I have said for sometime now, art has a quality of healing that can’t be denied.
