Getting that prop/motor combo right is so key! I've been flying the 5146 props you recommended for the 2208 1650kv motors. Those plus adding more expo did the trick. Super easy to get close and it catches without prop wash now. Gonna get out today and practice these tips! Thanks!

I relate watching it to listening to music. What makes us like a part of a song? Surprise. Our brains are quick at being able to predict music as we’re listening to it, it’s when a progression or change occurs that our brain didn’t expect, we like it. I think the same is true of watching FPV, it’s when some crazy unexpected move happens, especially (obviously) something our brain hasn’t seen done before, it gets psyched lol.

Great video. A lot of pilots want me to do more trick tutorials but they still struggle with throttle management and separating their throttle from the other controls...so even if they learn the new trick, it doesn't look anything like how I do it. They also struggle with controlling their speed which makes improving even worse. If they are booking it and find themselves in a tough situation where they might crash, they don't know how to move around in a way that still seems intentional and keeps the flow going like most pros.

Thanks for mentioning the wobble on zero throttle from low pitch props on Betaflight. I was having horrible wobble and never had it happen before so I had no clue. I was changing PIDs like crazy then saw this video. I put more aggressive props on the next day and BAM 💥. No more bobble. Great info video, thanks. 👍🏻

I usually fly low-pitch props and started using a throttle-curve which gives more resolution in the lower throttle area which makes catching yourself close to the ground much easier imo... The resolution you lose in turn in the top end doesn't really matter as I barely ever found myself needing to be precise in the high end throttle

you're saying right things but in a bad way I feel. 1. throttle control is important, but "linearity" is not what you need. You want resolution at low -mid throttle and "pop" at top end. Throttle curve makes this happen, especially on very light and powerful quads, props do help 2. projection - this is directly related to your quad's mass. Freestyle quads need to have mass to float and project. Racing style quads are not suited to freestyle because they slow down faster due to drag 3. consistency - practising on the same setup over and over, once you got your sweet spot, will allow you to get closer, faster, shoot smaller gaps and try new trics 4. break down tricks into doable bits then combine them for a full manoeuvre. eg the Split-S can be divided into Pop, Invert, Dive, Escape. All can be practised separately first then combined. I think you need a bit of structure in your dialogue because otherwise all you're saying is - get a good quad and have fun - which isn't that helpful. with respect

Is the flight controller limiting the usage of the battery? I learnt that you're not supposed to let your battery go all the way down, but a lot of people online seem to fly until they notice that their quad powering through anymore.

not by much its just a little extra weight at the rear of the quad, might even be nice for CG balancing out the front camera..I'd still run the same setup just might use a bit higher pitched prop depending on how much weight was added
