This lady is absolutely wrong, I would say ‘cause, as I remember, in late 70s almost a similar incident took place in a local Walmart store. A guy on his way to work stopped at a Walmart store, and purchased few items including a shoe lace. By accident he put the lace in his pocket (anyone can imagine the lace’s price); when he stepped outside, the security confronted him and ended up in an arrest.
