Joe eats 1/3 of a bag of peanuts, Mark eats 1/4 of the remaining in the bag of peanuts, Alvin eats 1/2 of the remaining bag of peanuts, Peter eats ten peanuts, and there are 71 peanuts left. Hon many peanuts were in the bags?

the example at 2:18 helped me a lot, it helped with a question i was stumped on for a while 'Jill was serving a pie. She cut the pie in to 5 equal pieces. She gave one to her mother, father and herself. She cut one piece in half and gave it to her brother. How much of the pie was left?'

you multiply 1/2 with 1/3 and that will give you 1/6. Multiply both denominators and numerators. also times half means divided by 2 if thats what you didnt understand. I hope this helps 2 years later :) also i cant confirm it is correct, sorry (i think it's correct but idk)

One of your examples (@ c. 3:20) is wrongly worded! It is clear the answer you are intended to get is 1/6 but the way the question is written the answer to it is 1/2! Clearly the question SHOULD have said: "What fraction of the original batch of cookies did he take to school.".

total no. of students is 100. out of which 75 fails means only 25 students pass. out of these 25 students 2/5 are girls so 2/5*25 = 10. i.e 10 girls passed the exam.
