This will be the final vLog of my knee recovery, i'm 90% recovered and it's at the point of diminishing returns. I reached my goal which was to be able to sprint at 8 weeks and further improvements will be slower.
I wanted to use the opportunity of the lockdown to practice my filming, editing and talking on camera skills and hopefully in return you've learned a little about injury recovery.
Back to normal business with science, engineering and motorsport related videos!

Thank you for sharing. I’m having same case like yours. Do you do your rehab exercises every day or 3-4 days in a week?

Glad it was useful. I think I adjusted my plan as the injury healed, but from my memory I did something every day. Some days heavy rehab, but other days just a massage and stretch. Just pay attention to what feels comfortable. Your body will tell you if it’s too much or too frequent

Thank you for sharing , I have a non displaced patela fracture as well, ( no surgery) Im currently on week 4 with the brace, Did you verify with xray images that your fracture was healed before adding pressure and walking on it ? I'm afraid to walk on it , even tho the doctor said I can with a 0 degree locked brace position.

No i didn't i just tried to listen to my body.. My approach was that discomfort was ok and high pain meant i was going too hard - that seemed to do me well. You need to put some load through and keep the joint moving it by using the muscle in order to stimulate the healing process, so don't be too fearful just make sure you're listening and you'll start to trust yourself. Why don't you just start by bending and straightening the knee without the brace and see how that feels?

Hi, I hope you are well. I had a similar fracture as yours. I have been immobilized for 6 weeks now. The x-rays still shows that the fracture is there. Is it safe to start therapy even if the fracture is still visible? How long did your fractured completely closes on your x-ray I have zero pain but my knee is stiff.

Hi. Obviously I’m not a doctor, but my understanding is that by 6 weeks you will certainly have something called a soft callus (which you don’t see on x-ray) formed between the fracture which is in the process of forming new bone. This is an important time in making sure you heal correctly and having some movement and tension through the fracture is really necessary, so if it doesn’t hurt I would definitely encourage you to start moving ASAP. Did you have an operation?

Thanks for the quick reply, I did not have surgery, I had a back slab for 2 weeks, that was not effective then they immobilized with a brace for 4 weeks. Today I had a follow up check up they said I should wear the brace for a further 2 weeks :( then I can start physio. The entire process is very tedious honestly.

@@zulfaprincessmashaba6064 Yeah - my opinion is to get doing rehab on it right away, just pay close attention to what your body is telling you and don't overdo it. Make sure you eat right and start very slowly. A little pain is ok, lots of pain means stop 🙂

Immobilising it for too long will mean it doesn't heal properly - if you can go to a physiotherapist to help guide you through it, then that would be a plus
