I do not recommend anyone run a filter this long this just to show the condition when used up to 3 times longer than most people run a filter and that there was no catastrophic failure

The Fram filter is ok for 10,000 miles with synthetic. As far as the end caps that doesn’t matter because the oil is flowing freely. Also the thickness of the Fram orange filter is ok. Fram orange filters are good to use.

There is nothing wrong with the fram extra guards. They do what they were made to do but I don't really use them because there are many oil filters that are better for the same price. I only have 1 car so I don't mind spending a few dollars more to get a better oil filter so I can take care of my only source of transportation. But fram does get the job done.

There’s something you have to remember about the fiberboard end caps. It’s the adhesive that glues the end caps to the ends of the filter media that is super strong and does the sealing.

Frame is doing something right if they are still in business honestly if I were to use a Fram I'd use the tough guard and up. Just because filter says it can go 20,000 miles doesn't mean you should. But to each their own.

The end caps are not card board. In my mind Fram works fine. Cut open my motorcraft filter and the metal end cap came off with almost zero effort. I trust the bond with fiber end caps over the metal. I was a Fram sceptic on the build. More I researched filters the better I feel about Fram. Cardboard? If that were the case the filter would not last 10 miles let alone 10,000.
