#FrameDrops #WhatisLAG
MY NOTES:
Frame Drops or Dropped Frames
What is Drop Frames or Frame Drops?
- It is a situation where (Frames-Per-Second) FPS number drops randomly due to several factors.
- For example, a typical mobile game should run at 60fps.
- With Frame Drops, this 60fps decrease to 55fps, 40fps, 25fps.
What is LAG?
- A delay of response due to server or internet issue.
What causes Frame Drops and Lags?
- Internet connection (Lag)
- Server stability (Lag)
- Hardware limitations
- Software incompatibility or issue
- Temperature
- Low Battery
How to Avoid Frame Drops?
1) Activate Gaming Mode if available
- If built-in gaming mode is not available, install a game booster or GLTool
- play.google.co...
2) Avoid Overheating
- Almost all smartphones have heat sensors.
- It is used to monitor heat and throttle down performance once heat threshold is reached to avoid system failure.
- Overheating causes Thermal Throttling
- Play games in a controlled environment like in a airconditioned room
- E-fans are also "somewhat" good but not if the air is warm.
- Remove jellycase and use your hands as heat conductor
- Start fresh
3) Get a good internet signal
- If using WiFi, sit near the router at least around 5-10ft is optimal.
- If 5GHz wifi is available in your router, activate it.
- For mobile data users, find the best spot for good signal
- Switch to a new SIM card if old SIM has signal issue (telco blocking scam)
- If planning to play for hours, force stop other apps to focus your data to your game
4) Force Stop apps and other games
- This will not only focus your internet to your game but also system resources such as RAM and processor.
- This will also lessen the heat on your smartphone since your chipset won;t be overwhelmed.
5) Use Some Developer Option Features
- Enable Force GPU Renedring on Android 9 or earlier
- Enable Gaming Preferences for Android 10 and later
6) Avoid playing games below 30% Battery
- Most smartphones has auto-trigger where performance is throttled down when critical battery percenatge is reached to slow down battery drain.
- It is called powersaving mode.
- Charging while gaming is not a very good option as it triggers Thermal Throttling and could potentially damage your battery more faster.
7) Lower Graphics Settings
- Some games have graphics settings where you can adjust for different performance and experience
- While HFR and High Graphics Settings looks good, it will also overwhelm your hardware
- Also, High Graphics could also trigger overheating, demand more battery, and make overall performance unstable.
8) Temporarily disable antivirus with firewall
- Sometimes the firewall settings of your antivirus causes the internet issue.
- Disable it temporarily or uninstall it if you are not installing apps outside of Play Store.
9) Restart Phone
- Before playing a game, restart phone to refresh old processes and dump unused cache
10) Buy a more Powerful Phone
- Mag-ipon kung gusto maka-experience ng better performing smartphone.
- Choose 4GB RAM or more.
- Go for Octacore processor with 2.0GHz or better frequency.
- Choose the latest chipset if possible with lower nanometer mobile chipset.
God Bless!
