im going to put this on a trek slash, but it already has downtube protection and the top has the removable nottle cage for frame storage, what should i do with the extra piece?
@mtbwknd3 жыл бұрын
What you can consider is to put the downtube piece on the top portion of the downtube. To do this, just uninstall the bottle cage first, then apply the downtube protection piece on it and cut around any pre-installed unmovable piece, then reinstall the bottle cage. Hope this helps.

Hello, Just got myself a Trek Marlin 5 and am going to get this same art for the frame protector...but I noticed you have a frame protector on the inner? Tube did you have to buy a second set or something cause from all other vids I've seen none had placed anything on the inner tube...
@mtbwknd2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the piece that I put on the innder downtube is the extra that I have for the Chain Stay. My bike came with a preinstalled chain stay rubber protection on the drive side. So I thought of putting the unused one there instead

It looks great on yellow. What specific design is that? Cant find that on their site. I want to put in on turquoise. Thanks in advance.
@mtbwknd2 жыл бұрын
That’s EWS Colored design. For Turquoise, any design in white would look nice!

Now you’ve had it for 7 months, does it stay on well, or does it peel up at the corners and awkward edges?
@mtbwknd3 жыл бұрын
Nope, it’s still intact. Don’t see any peel off till now. The thickness of the material provides a very robust protection too so don’t see any scratches that are going thru
@harrybryson11303 жыл бұрын
@@mtbwknd oh wow, and does it apply easily or just bubble up and not conform to the joints?
@mtbwknd3 жыл бұрын
@@harrybryson1130 very easy to do. The adhesive is designed to do several peel and stick so you can do some adjustments. Easy to cut too if you need to avoid some screws or frame components. Just stick it very slowly and once you’re happy with the positioning, finish off with a blow dryer to firm up the bond

Where did you get the extra piece on the inside of your downtube?
@mtbwknd3 жыл бұрын
The bike came with a pre-installed covered chainstay on the drive side. That’s why we had an extra piece and were able to put it there 🤙🏼

What do you think is better on matte black bike. Matte tape or glossy? Bike has glossy black lethers.
@mtbwknd2 жыл бұрын
I would go for a Matte with white graphics

@@mtbwknd Thanks. Im thinking of lightning or fluor. I am leaning towards lightning but i need to choose colour of lightnings.

@@mislavjelinic5442 yeah, that would be cool. The Viking white is also a classic, cool graphics 🤙🏼

Not spraying water/ soap underneath before apply?
@mtbwknd3 жыл бұрын
When we installed it we didn’t pre-spray anything. We just cleaned the surface and then direct apply on very carefully. You can do a peel and stick several times of you need to adjust the level then use a heat gun or blow dryer to finalize the attachment in the end. But of course you can pre-spray with soap if you wish
@gianluca56893 жыл бұрын
hello is the transparent gloss what you applied?
@mtbwknd3 жыл бұрын
The transparent is only for the downtube area. The rest are with Graphics.
@gianluca56893 жыл бұрын
@@mtbwknd both the clear gloss and the graphic have the same thickness and are they both applied easily? thank you
@mtbwknd3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are all in the same quality. When applying, use a heat gun or hair dryer to help the material form up on the edges and to dry and bond properly. Just go slow when doing it and don’t stay too close with the heat gun or hair dryer. (We only used a hair dryer though)
@sambaggett51922 жыл бұрын
hey bro did you use a prober heat gun or just a hair dryer
@mtbwknd2 жыл бұрын
Just a hair dryer
@snarp4082 жыл бұрын
@@mtbwknd it was hard to tell from the video, did you consistently apply heat as you pressed the edges or just that first time? I'm in the middle of applying now, so it's probably too late for a question anyways... But trying to determine if I need to consistently apply heat to keep it warm And ofc, thanks for sharing!
@mtbwknd2 жыл бұрын
@@snarp408 hey man, sorry for the late reply. I did apply the heat continuously while I stroke with a lil pressure till i feel it settled on the frame. But not too long.
@snarp4082 жыл бұрын
@@mtbwknd thanks for getting back! I have already applied it but I appreciate it nonetheless! Definitely got some bubble spots but it's not terrible. The true test will be how visible they are when I take it out riding. Thanks for your help!

What about the rest of the frame? I looks like the kit covered less than half the frame
@mtbwknd2 жыл бұрын
Dyedbro is a just a 6piece kit just enough to cover critical spots unless something got thru inside in unavoidable situations. Works fine with us the frame still free from any major scratches
