They do between Sept 14th to Easter then two small meals a day ...no meat at all.

….it’s more than that. Suffering can be had anywhere. One gets used to a certain simpleness just as we might reside in one of those stark mid-century concrete sand glass houses. The monks do have security….in that they are not impoverished as one an old city slum in the US. No one’s trying to kill you, or make you sell drugs. The monastery’s impoverishment is the skill to do without…….one wonders now if they imbibe in their own elixir? It is very odd to claim spiritual impoverishment and yet produce a substance that has its place in a well stocked Bar, …..and all that comes with that environment. I would be very comfortable in saying they have a very very nice racket, and all under the guise of a closed off location from the world. It’s all very beautiful and respectable, and the trade offs are evident.
