Fun fact: The "lesbian sister" comment was actually true! Rose Cleveland never courted nor showed any interest in men and after her time as stand-in First Lady, she was involved in a beautiful and passionate love affair with a woman named Evangeline Whipple. They were practically married and after the death of Whipple's husband, they lived out the rest of their days together in Italy and are buried side by side there.

It’s hard to say what people thought of the Grover Cleveland - Frances Folsom wedding at the time, but when they married, she was 21 and he was 49. Not only that, but Grover had been Francs’ legal guardian since her father died, when she was 11. So it was a lot like marrying his own adopted daughter.

The weirdest part wasn’t mentioned in this clip: Grover Cleveland was actually Frances Folsom’s legal guardian. Her father had been Grover’s law partner, and he died while Frances was a child. Grover Cleveland then became her legal guardian. The guardianship ended when she turned 21, and he married her almost immediately after that.

Look, man. Grover Cleveland knew his wife since she was a baby. He got romantic for her sometime while she was in college. Per wikipedia: "A longtime close friend of Oscar Folsom, Grover Cleveland, at age 27, met his future wife shortly after she was born. He took an avuncular interest in the child, buying her a baby carriage and otherwise doting on her as she grew up. When her father, Oscar Folsom, died in a carriage accident on July 23, 1875, without having written a will, the court appointed Cleveland administrator of his estate.[2] This brought Cleveland into still more contact with Frances, then age 11."

Bobby Moynihan is EPIC on these Drunk History episodes. He has that talent that the old timey silent film stars had and this Drunk History format suits him to a T..... Such a shame they aren't making any more of these. Comedy Central's animation preference is going to drive away all the old farts like me that loved the live action shows and programs like Drunk History. I BEG some other service, network, or something else to pick up the rights to this show and bring it forward. Derek - please shop this around....and bring Bobby with you!
