Are there also such thing in there as “Hey, we’re getting lunch,” which, according to autism TikTok, translates to, “Would you like to join us for lunch?” It seems to me that that’s particularly subtle, because you have to have neither autism nor CPTSD to get it. NTs are probably like, “This person is nice, so if they wanted to get lunch without me, they would try to keep it a secret from me so that I don’t feel left out. So the fact that I now know implies that they wanted me to know. But because they’re nice, that means that they don’t want to exclude me, so by elimination that means that I’m allowed to join them.” So I might miss that subtlety both because that’s quite a lot of steps to think through, and I’m probably doing something and not fully concentrating on the problem, and because I’m used to people being mean to me so that the necessary niceness hypothesis is not obviously privileged, or not intuitively anyway. Does that make sense? Then again there could be further explanations for why they’re telling me, “We’re getting lunch.” Maybe they’re expecting a phone call, and they want to be sure that I know that they’re not there to take it, so that I have my earplugs out during the break so that I can answer it. Just an example. There could be lots of unknown explanations like that, and you’d have to be able to rather confidently eliminate all of them, so I remain somewhat confused.

Listening to this describes in a way completely alien to me. I'm autistic as is my son and neither of us have any language deficits, both correctly used expansive vocabulary early. Neither of us are mind blind to our own thoughts or others. Both high IQ. Theory of mind tests sound weird, just because my eyes might not move doesn't mean my brainisn't thinking about something. I learnt how to use deoderant by asking my parents what they were doing, lots of curiousity which is probably why I was a scientist and my son is moving towards engineering and technology

Super curious about the face processing… For me I avoid eye contact because there’s a mismatch between facial expressions body language and the words coming out of peoples mouths. Drives me nuts, makes me feel like I’m crazy. It’s exhausting, people can assure you with their words over and over and over again that something is perfectly acceptable or they are OK with it and then have a total irate response and this is fucking exhausting. Of course I don’t have an autism diagnosis… Maybe I just have some key features of autism or maybe I’m just Nerod divergent, or maybe I’m neurotypical but you but I doubt it because I’ve always known I was different. I just don’t know in what ways for sure without a diagnosis

I'm baffled by the fact you have so much unknown about autism. Have you tried asking an adult why they have these traits? I'm 45 and have been analysing these trains in myself for a good 40 years. The answers are out there, your just not asking the right people. Academics don't always know best.

Why don´t you allow language contributions? This content is not available to non English speakers, and you don´t allow people to add subtitles (translated for free and by a person experienced in this author and content). That can be referred to as cultural monopoly. Professor Happé uses English, even in the conference in France. Uta Frith translated Hans Asperger´s files to English; and Leo Kanner migrated from Central Europe , so his reports are also in English. Still you don´t want this essential research and scientific information to be available for the non English speaking world. That even tramples the right to be informed, as advocated by the Human Rights.

Please start pushing out a public education on the difference between male and female autism! Extreme male brain extreme female brain, I know everybody’s afraid of the biology deniers but biology is biology. Too many women suffering, we can take this empathy and Weaponized it for good, rather than wallowing in suffering. But not if we can’t recognize it, not a others do not even know it exist. Did you guys know that teachers that are well-versed in autism do not understand there is a difference? You can sit there and try to explain it to them and argue with them until you’re blue in the face and they will not take the time to read your research… They will not take the time to listen to even a piece like this.
