God bless Francis Ford Coppola for his strength and never caving to the studios. Please support his new film, Megalopolis, currently at the Cannes Film Festival. I am just a fan and lifelong cinephile who appreciates great films and filmmakers and wants nothing more than to see Francis, now 82, who self-funded this film by selling a great portion of his winery, to get his due and have the public come out in droves for this genius filmmaker, who gave us “ The Godfather,” and “Apocalypse Now,” just to name two of his great contributions to film. 🎥 Love you, Francis. ❤

To cast Pacino, Paramount head Robert Evans had to use his mob connections to threaten the construction of MGM Grand in Las Vegas to make MGM release Pacino from THE GANG THAT COULDN'T SHOOT STRAIGHT. (Robert de Niro replaced him.)

Years ago I saw a doc on the whole series and couldn't believe what went on behind the scenes and how much Coppola went thru to get the movie made-the end result speaks for itself AND Coppola!💎

Nowadays studios are owned by tech companies and few directors are even able to challenge their obsession with content and algorithmic catalogues for their streaming service which cuts out any revenue streams for actual writers/directors in royalties or box office profit

I love The Godfather as much as the next guy but no. 1. Sterling Hayden’s character blinks when he’s dead on the floor after Michael kills him in the restaurant 2. It was dumb of Clemenza to stand in front of the car when the bodyguard who called out sick was being shot in the back of the head. 3. It’s beautifully shot, but when the guy with the glasses is killed during the baptism scene, he falls hilariously slow 4. During the special tape scene before the restaurant shooting, Michael keeps touching places on the gun that don’t have the tape
