I can see why some people would find this boring but I found the grappling exchanges weirdly enjoyable. The idea of Francis coming back in the later rounds and winning a fight through grappling is just something else 🤣 his evolution is incredible and he showed great heart last night. Also respect to gane, showed his class in the first 2 rounds and will be champ one day.

Tbh most of those who said it was boring probably aren't used to watching mma grappling it, it takes at least 2 years. Having said that I don't think Ngannou did enough damage when wrestling and the rules prioritise damage.

My respect for Ngannou has just gone up a lot. He proved tonight he’s not just a one punch power heavyweight but he can grapple and wrestle extremely well. Gane was certainly not expecting that but there is no doubt he will be a champion at some stage.

Heard a lot of talk about Cyril, but hardly anything about Francis in the commentary. Along with the snide UFC media naming Cyril “the Champ”, and Francis “the predator”, and Dana White not putting the belt on Francis or showing up to the post fight press conference. The first time I’ve seen 110% clear bias shown by the UFC, they didn’t even try to hide they wanted Cyril to beat Ngannou, and we all know it’s because he was vocal about fighter pay and his contract.

Indeed, they constantly do this. Its not about talent. Its about the market they can take advantage of. Look at Jack Shore for example. Clearly top 3 best Prospects from Britain but because he comes from Wales they don't promote him. 15-0 in his career and 4-0 in the ufc, yet still hasn't had a main card.

@@taffyducks544 in Jack's case I don't think that its an issue that he's Welsh especially. They push those fighters who put bums on seats and make people part with their money for PPV sales. If they or indeed he himself, could market him somehow he'd be a star. Only way to do that on this day and age is to knocking people dead in the cage OR being loud with a microphone in your hand. Winning fights just sadly isn't enough any more. It ain't right but that's usually how it goes.
@WestyThaDawg
@WestyThaDawg 2 жыл бұрын
@@taffyducks544 Mate it's nothing to do with him being Welsh, it's because no one knows who he is. Arnold Allen is 7-0 in the UFC and had only been on the main card once until last year. I'm a fan of both guys but lets face it, they aren't exactly superstar material. Being clean, technical and safe like those two is super impressive but doesn't draw numbers. If Jack goes out and gets an impressive knockout over a decent name, he will get pushed.

I think this fight showed not only the respect that Ngannous has for Gane but his growth as a fighter he showed isn't just all about scary knock out power. Even if his jui-jitsui or wrestling isn't crisp he has a lot of strength which someone smaller than Gane would of tired quickly. Gane is definitely a future champion if he sticks at it.

I also had. It 4-1 duno why it blows your mind gane landed 2 more shots then Francis in the first round ... Most of them tippy tappy leg kicks that literally did nothing the biggest strike of that round was nganouu uppercut to the body and combo that had gane fold over and retreat..was a super close first round ...even the second was close due to lack of output by gane in first 2 rounds and no rarely committing to his strikes
