One of the saddest moments for me is realizing when I do pass on, I will not be able to tap into these beautiful memories. We can't take our money with us, but wouldn't it be great if we could take these moments with us?

I believe we will take those memories with us, to me it would not make sense to just poof out of existence and forget absalutely everything. Human existence might be quite a raw and temporary experience, but the soul is an eternal thing.

Corelli's version is the best. His voice is so magnificent and his emotional and expressive interpretation is bar none. Outstanding. Thank you phalenopsis1 for sharing this amazing Tenor's superior performance of this heart wrenching song. RIP Franco Corelli.

I’d like to recommend Mark Milhofer’s version, from his latest album dedicated to songs by and for Caruso. I’ve heard this song various times by various Tenors already and I have to say that Milhofer’s version is my favourite (on his YT channel there are several versions, the one from his Lanza/Caruso recital is the best for me).

Love love LOVE Franco Corelli's Passion when he sings. He is so aware of the meaning of the lyrics and that connection comes across in each note he sings. What a voice and what a presence! He is as beautiful to watch as it is to listen to him. Sublime, truly sublime. Thank God for technology that we can still see and hear him.

Grande voce, io ho avuto il piacere di sentirlo a Verona in CARMEN, e al Funerale del M° Mario del MONACO, momento triste, è stato un grande ARTISTA. Voce cosi grande non esistono più.

Parole inutili di chi critica una interpretazione favolosa .Corelli non canta ,ti prende per mano e ti trasporta nel dramma che sta vivendo.Ecco ciò che esprime in questa meraviglia di canzone.Niente di pi.u e poi......asciughiamoci le lacrime che tanta voce ci ha non procurato.Immenso Corelli ti applaudire o per sempre

Great GREAT point Tommy. I always thought, as a musician, that the piano player completely brought the best out of Corelli. And Corelli rewarded him for his touch and tone...by giving an unforgettable performance.

So much more than just a singer, the great Corelli has the generosity of spirit as well as the artistry to be able to convey to his audience everything that he feels. Vuelvo a comentar este video después de 2 años, es increible el sentimiento que me genera escuchar a este hombre, que a pesar de su avanzada edad en ese momento poseía semejante voz e interpretación.. me quito el sombrero las veces que haga falta

Franco Corelli naciò en 1921, en ese concierto tenìa 50 años, no era grande para la carrera de un tenor, pero sì que Franco cantò roles muy pesados, ademàs de ser un hombre muy nervioso, por esa razòn 3 años despuès de este concierto abandonò su carrera, que fue grandiosa.

To me, this is a distillation of every thing l love about the most wonderful tenor of my lifetime. It may be a bit 'intense' for some tastes but I am in heaven here.

I agree with you completely bendabledoll about Corelli. He combines commitment with artistry and a virile and often gentle passion. And as you said his facial expression show so much. I also agree with you that in maturity he became better I have also noticed this phenomenon with many singers where other people have said they were "past their prime". I prefer the calm maturity of experience of an older person to the screeching insecurity of a younger singer.

Grande maestro.for this aria in special= only di stefano is slightly better.. In general; corelli is the uncrowned king of opera...in many many roles like as cavardossi, calaf, manrico... Pavarotti:" this guy never stopped to be strong & that made del monaco crazy.. Corelli had vocal cords of steel".
