In 1972 the famous conductor was invited as a guest artist, to conduct the San Remo's song festival orchestra.
It was the first time that a foreign maestro would conduct in San Remo. San Remo's festival was at that time very popular, spectators would applause during the song, and the TV broadcast would bring millions of spectators.
Franck was very popular. So popular that it aroused discord among the musicians , a french directing them!!!, that they went on strike for a few hours!!!!!
