Frangipani (Plumeria) can easily be propagated by cuttings. In this video I plant up several cuttings which I acquired from pruning my large established Frangipani. Using a free draining compost mix most Frangipani cuttings should take root within a few weeks.
Thanks for watching

I just got three cuttings from my friend this week! So exciting. Thank you for your useful video and also I really like your accent! It's very pleasant to watch a plant video with an not annoying accent.

I love the three section clippings when I take frangipani cuttings. I think they make the best starter trees, don’t you agree? My cousin lives on the west coast and she mailed me some rare clippings from her frangipani trees. One each, it’s been a while since I propagated any and wanted to double check on the time I needed to dry the tips. I thought I needed to wait at least a week. I got a rare Jasmine Frangipani from California Poly Technology Institute, and a White one that she got in Hawaii, among a few others that come from California. I’m going to have a few beautiful threes in my Florida landscape. Thanks for sharing your tips with us!!

I enjoyed watching your video such an inspiration, thank you! I have a Y shape branch but the branch itself is 3 inches and the two branches with leaves one is 9 1/2 inches and the other 6 inches. My question is can I place the 3 inch branch into the dirt or should I cut the two branches with leaves and put those in the dirt and make two trees? PLUS, they are a bit wrinkled not sure if that matters. Please, help!

Cool looking thicker plant. I am laughing, as I live in NJ (USA), and you say 20C (we are 80-100F where I am at). I am not used to growing such cool growing plants overall, but every now an then I can tell a new plant that I may buy - may or may not be happy with the warmer temps. I love summer, but it goes quickly!

Hay just planted some cuttings in the bag method an I'm wondering do they need sunlight or just bottom heat? Cause I've put my cutting in the hot water tank cupboard where its warm an moist but there is no light in their ?
@Gardeningat58N
@Gardeningat58N 4 жыл бұрын
For the first week or two they will be OK without sunlight, but they will do better with some daylight each day. Certainly don't leave them in there for more than two weeks.

Thank you for the beautiful video. I would like to ask how soon do I need to water them after putting into the soil?
@Gardeningat58N
@Gardeningat58N 3 жыл бұрын
Just make sure the soil is slightly damp, the biggest risk is the cutting rotting, so you don't want to water too often. You won't need to water unless the soil completely dries out or the cutting start growing new leaves.

In Australia, that's around $400.00 of cuttings . 16 times $25 per cuttings. You can see why some people just do Frangipani cuttings for a living !

A friend of mine bought a house with at least 8 full need - a - ladder size trees he didn't want at all in his yard. I went nuts, but only saved 20 to 30 of the best. I've watched several videos on several different techniques, and I'm reviewing everything before I plant the ones that I bag rooted.

My mom doesn’t want to buy the other things that are supposed to be added and since I live in a warm climate I just shove them in the ground and leave them there. Sometimes I put them In water bottles and they grow until my schizophrenic brother pulls it out and throws it away. I also use aloe Vera as a rooting hormone and I throw any rotting apple cores or any orange fruit skin into there to feed the plant

I was told just cut and dry for 3 days and place in water...does that work as well?
@Gardeningat58N
@Gardeningat58N Жыл бұрын
Yes that should also work, but when the roots form in water they don't transfer to soil well as the roots are very brittle and the roots have adapted to growing in water not soil. Also the risk of rot is also higher in water than soil.

I’ve got two cutting. Is there a reason you’ve put them together or can I put my two cuttings in their own pots?
@Gardeningat58N
@Gardeningat58N 2 жыл бұрын
I put multiple cuttings in each pot because I was living in a flat at the time with limited space, but one per pot is actually a bit better as the plants will have more space and airflow.

what happens if the cuttings get wrinkles and planted.in pots will it grow
@Gardeningat58N
@Gardeningat58N 3 жыл бұрын
It can still grow, its normal for the stems to dry out a little and wrinkle before the roots grow, as long as the stem isn't mushy or extremely dry it should grow roots and new leaves after a month or two. Once its roots have grown the stem should fatten up again and the wrinkles will disappear.

should you always take the leaves off?
@Gardeningat58N
@Gardeningat58N 4 жыл бұрын
You should take most of the leaves off, just leaving one or two smaller ones at the top. Too many leaves will cause the cutting to dry out before it has a chance to root.
