It has Richard Dawkins, Peter Bohossian and Peter Atkins all saying that they'd choose not to believe the evidence if God wrote in the sky spoke to them and Peter Atkins even said that he wouldn't believe if he actually saw Jesus resurrected. So how are you any different? @@Jwarrior123 that’s about the most ignorant comment I’ve ever heard. You can say that the evidence for macro evolution is unconvincing and that’s fine, but to say there is no evidence at all is silly. Vestigial structures, the fossil record, DNA sequencing, phenotypic changes, divergent evolution and more are all observable phenomena that point towards change in living organisms. Extrapolate that change over millions of years and you have a working theory of evolution. Theistic evolutionists have an even easier time providing evidence for evolution, because we believe in an intelligent, all powerful creator who can direct and orchestrate the natural processes of evolution to bring about immensely improbable occurrences like consciousness, rational thought, the human brain, etc. Like I said previously, Craig has put thousands of hours of study into this topic. He has written at least 1 full length book discussing the scientific and theological data regarding this topic. He has likely spent more much time studying this one topic than either of us have spent studying in our lives period, at least I can speak for myself on that point. When I was in school working on my bachelor's in biology, I took one graduate level course in which the professor was studying a gene that had long been labeled a "junk gene" by mainstream science. After working at it for years, he was able to demonstrate that this "junk gene" actually played a major role in the production and regulation of a specific protein involved in the healthy development of a baby during pregnancy. This was at a small university, so do think big institutions gave any attention to this doctors research? That research illustrates such an important point to the "junk gene" debate though. There may be thousands of genes in our genome that only become active under very specific circumstances, which can be extremely difficult to pin down.

Since many ERVs have already been found to be functional, it is reasonable to think that they are there by design. The fact that we find the same ERVs in humans and apes is really no surprise. If humans and apes share the same creator and were made to live in the same world and to eat the same sort of food, it is hardly surprising that they were made with similar DNA (although the differences are much greater than evolutionists expected, which is a major problem for their story).

All car brands have them. No, they were not inherited from a common ancestor. Yes, they were all independently designed that way. (And if there had been only one designer, would it really have been "independent"?) Just because YOU don't understand a function does not mean it's a mistake or "broken". That is the absolut correct question! For one would have to deny the account of the Fall and Paul's teaching in Romans 5:12 and following in order to hold such an evolutionary view. In addition, you would also have to reinterpret the creation account so that God no longer created Adam from the dust of the earth, as is reported. Furthermore, the time span of around 6,000 years from us to Adam, as recorded in the Bible, must be denied. If humans had actually evolved from animals, it would have taken an immense amount of time. A lot of time means that life and death (!) existed before man. Therefore, the worldwide mass graves would not have to be attributed to a worldwide flood catastrophe, but to the millions of years of life and death of organisms and animals, which contradicts the Bible. No matter how many clever-sounding words you use, you simply cannot avoid rejecting the word of God.
@matthewm7590

Depends what you mean by original sin. Original Sin proper is the doctrine that humans inherited not only Adam’s sin nature, but also the guilt of the individual sin he committed. This doctrine is believed by Catholics and some Protestants but rejected by Orthodox Christians and other Protestants. So a biblically faithful Christian is not forced to hold or account for this view. The popular understanding of original sin is the fact that there was a first sin committed by Adam through which humans came to have a sin nature. Theistic evolution has no effect on this, as Adam could have still committed the first sin, whether he was created de novo by God or simply given a moral, rational soul.

It's not shocking to most people that endogenous retroviruses were recruited for other functions. Genes do this frequently, and ERVs still have genetic elements that could be utilized for novel purposes. It would explain why ERVs are preserved the way they are. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't non-functional ERVs either, just that some ERVs get recruited for other purposes. "The same ERVs are found in humans and apes because we share a common designer rather than a common ancestor." Effectively, you acknowledge common ancestry, but you don't want to call it that because it doesn't suit your religious views.

I think that can still be true even if its not taken to be as literal as one might take it. We don't look at that verse and determine that God has hands (I take the illustrative use hands to convey the meaning that God is the cause to the result of the starry sky we see). That's because there is a certain level of context to which we are applying the meaning. We understand that the existence of the universe as we know it is a result of God through a process that is beyond our understanding. I don't think that this rules out the idea of a universe that is billions of years old. Either way you interpret it, it is still true, so personally I don't see it as that big of an issue.

God gave Adam free will in the Garden of Eden. Adam didn’t trust God. He believed Satan was telling the truth so he believed Eve and ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam’s sin created our fallen world. Christ is the new Adam who trusted God the Father and did His will by voluntarily dying on the cross for the sins of the world…including Adam’s sin. If you repent and believe in the risen Christ you are reconciled to God, washed clean of your sin by the blood of Christ and will spend eternity in a new heavens and earth. I’m afraid the proponents of Theological Evolution are being misled by the community of non-Christian or Progressive Christian academics. They will never respect you until you renounce your fundamentalist Christian faith. Once they convince you the Bible is not true or is mostly allegorical Christ’s sacrifice means nothing. As RC Sproul said and I’m paraphrasing…I believe the Bible because I believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Be in Christ and shine your light for those lost souls drowning in the chaotic culture. Hugh Ross says there isn't enough time for macroevolution, and since we known fairly precisely the age of the earth, this would appear to be a big challenge. Additionally, there is an argument based on DNA (molecular systematics) that similar species that are structurally very similar (for example, frogs, lizards, herbs) are genetically distinct. Thus, if macroevolution is true, these nearly identical species evolved over time separately, not from common descent. Additionally, there are concerns about the physics of Earth during this time period and the possibility of separate creation and destruction sequences over Earth's lifetime prior to humans being installed. I think the approach they take at Reasons to Believe is closer to the truth on this topic than a theistic evolution approach, based on the data. I would love to see a panel discussion with WLC, Behe, Ross, and Meyer discussing the nuances of all the issues involved.

A creationist does not have to accept that God designed any broken or purposeless functions because creationism does not teach that the world as we now know it is God's original design! Any function in nature that now operates imperfectly is the result of the corruption that creation inherited from the Fall. The fact that God's original design before the Fall still operates and sustains life after the Fall despite its corruption is evidence that God's original design is strong and intelligent.

God is an artist and an engineer (among many, many other things). Do not artists and engineers iterate, build upon, and incorporate aspects, from previous or adjacent designs? People often like to imagine that God simply snaps his fingers and in the blink of an eye everything is created out of thin air. I find this to be a very terrible perspective. If God is an artist, which He no doubt is, then why would he not mold his creations like clay within the bounds of the universe that he has created for them to exist within? My point is that the process in which God created/crafted all organisms on Earth could very likely be (understandably) confused with macro evolution. I simply don't see any evidence that suggests macro evolution is possible, from a genetic or mathematical perspective, without direct Divine intervention and guidance to move it beyond what is possible in the natural order.

In the past there was a unbiblical doctrine where they believed God made the universe in one day rather than 6 and their reasoning was that "God is all powerful He could do it in one" I fear that theistic evolution is another attempt at this from a different angle "I dont think God could do this in 6 days so ill believe in this" When i hear theistic evolution it worries me that Christians now want to limit Gods power. He could have used evolution sure, but that is not what scripture says and one has to use extra biblical sources to even come to that conclusion. So understand that many creationist believers see evolution as a undermining of Gods power and His nature.

The inclusion of common non functional DNA in similar animals does not necessitate a common ancestry by Darwinian evolution. It could be common origin in God's production line of species. There's no reason why theistic evolution could not contain seemingly dud information in one species from previous "dust =DNA" that God used to create the new species.

It’s not just non functional. It’s broken genes where we can see the gene was functional but now it’s broken. Bill uses a broken door handle as an analogy here. Why would any creator put a broken door handle on a car? So why would any creator use broken genes when creating species? Broken genes that we can trace back through our ancestry to where they first appeared. Such as chromosome 2. Or the mutation that had apes lose their tales.

If one believes in theistic macro evolution, you will in all likelihood be left behind soon (especially those who are putting forth that nonsense). And when you are, I can only hope you've read the below as you can still be saved. Did millions of people just “disappear"? Jesus came! What's next? If this event has just happened, I am truly sorry you are reading this letter right now. If I had witnessed the instantaneous removal of every born again Christian and genuine follower of Jesus Christ from the Earth, and the resulting chaos, I would be absolutely terrified. My purpose in writing this letter is to help you survive, and to share what to expect next. That said, if this hasn’t happened quite yet, make no mistake, IT SOON WILL (and you still have time to do something about it). First of all, please understand that it wasn't “aliens”, "climate change", or any other "lie" that the government and media is currently telling you where everyone went (regardless of how plausible it sounds, or even looks). Remember how realistic movies appear that come out of Hollywood, Marvel, etc. Don't buy it for a second, as your life depends on it. Also don't believe the lies from the left behind “professing” Christians/churches that are saying “it couldn't have been Jesus, because we’re still here!” Well, there's a reason they're all still here (which I'll address later). Don't believe ANY of these people, for they are all children of the father of lies. (John 8:44) So, what did happen? All of the people who, trusted in the death and shed blood of Jesus on the cross, and believed in His resurrection for the forgiveness of their sins, have bypassed death and have gone to Heaven in a moment called the “Rapture” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, Matthew 24:36-44). Those who have disappeared are now safely home in Heaven. Heaven can also be YOUR destiny. Whatever your background, Jesus Christ is the "key" to unlock eternity with God, and all those who have disappeared. That said, if by chance you happen to come across this letter, and this event has "not" happened yet, I implore you to get right with Jesus IMMEDIATELY. He’s standing at the door, your door, awaiting an invitation to come in (Revelation 3:20). Believe Jesus became man, died, was buried, and rose again, so that by His shed blood on the cross, you can be saved when you BELIEVE and put your FAITH in Him for the forgiveness of your sins. There's nothing you can do to "earn" salvation, it's a free gift from Jesus when you believe and put your trust in Him for your forgiveness. Find a Bible and look up Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 3:16-17, 2 Peter 3:9, Romans 10:9-13 and Ephesians 2:8-9. My dear friend, please don't delay, as you don't want to be “left behind” when the Rapture does soon come to pass. If the Rapture has indeed just happened, and millions upon millions have vanished, PLEASE keep reading. Now is the time to rethink your belief system. As it states in Matthew 7:21-23, folks who thought they had Heaven locked up by their good works, or by simply attending church/saying a few prayers, are now currently quite surprised and horrified that they too have been left behind. As, at this point, Jesus has said to them, “I never knew you.” Many probably thought of Jesus as their savior, but did not have a personal and saving relationship with Him. It's like knowing who the President is, but not "personally" knowing him (nor he you). There is a huge difference between factual knowledge and a relationship. Seek that “relationship” now! Perhaps you had entirely dismissed Christianity as ridiculous, narrow minded, bigoted, or unjust. Maybe you even said, “How can Jesus be the ONLY way? That’s not fair!” Being left behind is now your wake-up-call and proof that Jesus IS the only way. Please commit to following Him today, and call on His name for your forgiveness. For when you hear His voice, don't harden your heart. (Hebrews 3:15) To initiate this relationship, talk with God, and cry out to Him (Acts 2:21). What can you do? I pray that you have now taken this all important and ETERNAL step with Jesus at this point, and if so, I'll be looking forward to seeing you one day soon. That said, and until that time, I don't want to sugar coat what you're about to experience the next 7 years. The horrific period known as “the Tribulation”. A time of God’s judgement for humanity’s rebellion. What's coming is God’s just and due wrath upon a Christ rejecting, and sinful world. God’s wrath will be awful, one curse after another as described in the book of Revelation. And understand, even if you have now received Jesus into your life, you are now liable to die for Him, just as He died for you (all for your newfound faith). In the Bible, it even talks about those that are now following Jesus being beheaded. I don't say this to frighten you, but just as a warning of what Scripture tells us, so you might be prepared. Read the New Testament and Revelation, over and over again for more knowledge. Remember, God had patience with you before the Rapture, and did not want you to have to experience this time period. Even though you previously rejected Him and His free gift of salvation, you can still be spared from an eternity in Hell IF you have put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone to save you. So again, I want to encourage you to now trust in Jesus, and He'll help you persevere through the Tribulation. Hard times are definitely coming. What else do you need to know? The people now left behind will divide into two groups. The majority will be looking to the government to save them and restore order. You may have heard of the "anti-Christ" (a future one world leader), the false prophet, and the “mark of the beast.” This man will come into power, as the nations around the world give him all authority. He will violently oppose those that are now following Jesus after the Rapture, and at some point, the anti-Christ will even institute a "mark" (a symbol or implant of some kind) that ALL must take in worship of him. Without this mark, people will not be able to transact any commerce. People will not be able to even buy food, resources, or obtain any governmental services. Whatever you do, DO NOT ACCEPT THIS MARK, which will likely be placed on your forehead/brain or your hand/arm, in order that you may buy or sell. This mark could come disguised as some “beneficial” health requirement (a cure for all disease perhaps) or transhumanism (evil’s attempt to improve God’s original design). It may even come with the "promise" of eternal life. Don’t believe it! As when one is in Christ, “this world” is not our final destination. The New Heaven and New Earth will be. PLEASE understand that there is NO HOPE for those that take this “mark”. This is crucial! Earthly survival is not worth an eternity in Hell. (Revelation 13:11-18 and Revelation 14:9-11) I expect that your survival will depend on your ability to function outside of the "system" you've become accustomed to (due to the enemy now being in complete control worldwide). Get smart. Get offline. Do not leave an electronic trail. No credit cards, only cash, or barter (if at all possible). That said, cash won’t last long, and may even go away immediately after the Rapture. Why? Because as I discussed above, the new anti-Christ system will forbid anyone to buy or sell without the “mark” at some point, so they'll want to begin tracking your, and everyone's, EVERY move and EVERY transaction, right away. Think social credit score. You either do what “they” tell you to do, or you won’t get what you need to survive. Lastly, embrace hope! Jesus PROMISES to return again at the end of this 7 year Tribulation to reign forevermore. He will return as the conquering victorious King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Jesus came the first time as a sacrificial Lamb, but when He returns this last time, it will be as the Lion from the tribe of Judah! When you receive Jesus' forgiveness, connect intimately with God and other Jesus followers during this time. Read the Bible and learn to recognize the Shepherd’s Voice. (John 10:4) If you still haven't turned to Jesus yet, may I ask, what are you waiting for? This is life and death serious. Eternal life and eternal death serious. “And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27) Jesus’ forgiveness has an expiration date, and you’ve likely already passed up the “Best if used by” date (the Rapture), so PLEASE don’t let this last date expire. As all that will remain for you at that point is regret, despair, and everlasting torment. Remembering forever how it could have been so much different, had you chosen not to harden your heart, but instead, received Jesus and accepted His grace (John 3:3). Love must be freely given, otherwise it’s not love, and Jesus isn’t going to force anyone into a relationship with Him. We will all spend eternity somewhere, it’s just a matter of location. Jesus loves you, He died for you, so why not live for Him now? For when you do, you’ll also live with Him forever. Life versus death. Heaven versus Hell. The choice is clear, but which will “you” choose? Jesus’ part is finished (John 19:30), the rest is up to you. Admit you’re a sinner, Believe Jesus is Lord, Call upon His name. Let TODAY be the day of your salvation! I hope and pray that you do, as I sure would love to meet you one day. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you, and give you peace.

Machinery is complex in today’s world. Modern day manufactures (engineers) regularly put items / components that don’t help / are unnecessary to the specific machine they’re installed on. They do this at assembly for many reasons. One big reason is the “additional / unnecessary” items can be used by the manufacturer and not others. The manufacturer has proprietary / specialized tools only available in house which can make use out of the seemingly unusable components. I don’t believe in theistic evolution but I also don’t believe sin is what cause death to be in the World…..I could be wrong but this is my Theory using scriptures, in Genesis creation account God told all living things to “Be fruitful and multiply” Right and a lot of people who believe God intended for mankind to live with him if Adam and Eve didn’t eat the Fruit but in my opinion and understanding from what I read in the Bible even if Adam and Even didn’t eat of the tree, they would have still been able to die only difference is they would have automatically went to heaven because they had no sin……here’s why I said that Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is Death….the death we know the Bible is talking about isn’t physical death all of us will go through but being damned to hell which is the true death just as eternal life is the true life, in Matthew 22:30 Jesus Explained that in heaven we will be like the angels which means there is no sex and we know the purpose of sex it to reproduce hence the “be fruitful and multiply” if God intended for Adam and Eve to live forever with him, why enable anyone to be able to reproduce if they won’t be able to die….clearly we won’t be reproducing in heaven so the number of occupants in heaven will not decrease….we know God never changes his mind or his outcome what he intended to happen from the start will happen and that’s a set number of people who he chose and who chose him to live alongside him for eternity…..and the life he gave everyone on earth including products of reproduction would eventually have to be chosen and also choose to be with God, but like I said it’s a theory based on what’s in the Bible so when God said to Adam “if you eat of the tree you shall surely die” he never meant the Physical death but the spiritual death in hell for eternity instead of “Life” with him.

WLC's argument, while appears to be quite reasonable, has a lot of assumptions, too. God can arrange genomes, where to us appear broken, but serve a function. It doesn't have to have a purpose that we know of anyway to still be a creation design. Love WLC's material, but not this argument.

I think there's a lot more to our bodies and those of the animals than we can possibly understand, and the purposes God has for them are not within our current purview. For instance, our bodies were made in the Garden without death, disease, or many of the other limitations we now experience. So many mechanisms now present in our bodies being non-functional then suggests other abilities we could have had if there was no fall into sin, so at present they lie dormant. Of course those abilities of the body may also be recovered again upon resurrection. So evolution or common ancestry may not be the answer to such observations as those brought up by Dr. Craig.
