@@leechild4655 The Jimi channel is real. It's not Jimi though it's the spirit you channel everyone has access. I can channel the same vibe after playing for 40 years. It's the blues at its core. It comes from growing up listening to music created by people channeling this spirit. It's feeling more than anything else. You get so into it you become the spirit and you can play what you hear in your head. I can play Jimi note for note or I can play "like" Jimi it becomes the same thing. I'm not claiming to be Jimi but I do know I can sound a lot like him and it's not technical it's a feeling. Sounding like him is more rewarding than trying too hard to sound exactly like him. Eric Johnson is the master or masters when it comes to Jimi channel.

Frank technical ability is second to no one! The covers he plays are better than the originals, and his own songs showcase his mastery of the guitar.Complex chords and runs are awesome, and to sing like he does while playing is another overlooked talent.Jimi opened the door to what was possible with an electric guitar, and Frank kicked that door down and showed even more what could be done with one! He is a technical genious, his SG is like no other,it's so heavily modded and uses Fender single coil style pick ups instead of the Gibson style, that's part of where his awesome tone comes from, but he also makes his own pedals and amps! Check out his live interviews, especially one from everyoneLovesGuitar,it's over two hours long, but you'll see just how cool and smart he is,as well as being one of the nicest guys you'll ever listen to.Wings of Pegasus has a live interview with him,and again you'll see what a smart and cool man he is!

Matthew Taylor: Herein lays the basis for individual opinion... yours and mind. As someone who was a freshman in college when Jimi broken into the mainstream US market, I was a big fan. The more I listed to him, the more I realized that while he was unquestionably a genius, lighting fast, and truly gifted, he didn’t play as clean as a very few others. In real time I couldn’t make such comparisons, because the best work of some the other greats was yet to come. It is in retrospect that I formed my opinion that Jimi was not the cleanest of players. He dragged cords repeatedly. It was his playing style and so be it, because he was/is simply great at his craftsmanship. I’m not even suggesting that he is the GOAT. However, Marino, Clapton, Van Halen, Gilmore, and Van Zant all played very complex music and at the same time played cleaner. Jimi ‘s limited catalog of work compared to the other mentioned above also gives evidence to their progression and improvement over time. Had Jimi lived as long as these others, he may have proven to to be beyond question better than everyone else in all respects. I respect your opinion and your right to see things differently.

Man , what a monster sound !!! And that vibrato ( not the one on his sg ) . And that precision . And that feel . And that .............I could go on and on . There are 2 guitar players that can make me cry out of pure beauty of what and how they play . Frank Marino and Allan Holdsworth .

From 3:30 we hear an incredible guitar solo that goes on for 3 minutes! Frank was sadly overlooked in rock history. Glad he kept playing. Makes me want to pull out my Mahogany Rush album and listen again.....alas, no turntable anymore. lol

Frank is a true student and master of the guitar. I'm sure he ripped the roof off that small club venue. Seen him once 30 years ago. Got 5th row in St.Louis for a reschedule show. ( covid-19). Can't wait. Crank up the amp!!!!

Frank always gets talked about as underrated and he is a monster player but it was FRANKS decision to follow the path he went. He is a principled, humble man who would not "sell out"for the fame & fortune. Those of us in the know are in awe of his talent and should spread the word for others to get on board.

To sing lead so well, and to play lead so well, is special, very special. To do it @ studio quality, just doesnt happen. But alas, Frank Marino. Rare and true.

Frank Marino was a great great guitarist and musician. And a great showman . His concerts are memorizing . Frank , Alvin Lee and Rory Gallagher are my favorite guitarist . I’m sure if I had a lesson with them that they could 4 notes into precious metal. In an hour

The bestest version ever. It was like he played with 15 fingers. Impossible to play like this. Truly godly. A guitar Jedi of all time.

I saw Frank & MR in summer of '78 as the opener for Aerosmith and Ted Nugent. I believe he was on the same management as them, Leber/Krebs, so he often appeared with them. He was great and made Aerosmith look like a bunch of amateurs. Got to see Frank again years later at the old Ritz in NYC on 11th Avenue, with Ronnie Montrose as his opener. Frank damn near played all night, I don't think I got out of there until 2 or 3am, had to go to work the next morning on no sleep, but running high on adrenaline from Frank's awesome playing all night!

Frank's incredible, have seen him too many years ago. His brother is also a great player, watch Franks version of "I'm a king bee" in Bromont circa 1978 to see Frank's brother take a lead!!! They are both incredible players who deserve much more attention!!! Thanks to KZfaq for giving them a forum to showcase their talent!

I saw them “live” in San Diego late 70’s whoa what a show!!! I’m of the thinking 🤔 could be wrong (hope not) but Frank Marino and the rest of the band didn’t get the exposure they deserved. Frank Marino is a very gifted guitar player.

Ya you said it! totally underrated and underexposed. I saw them in Vancouver BC mid '70s. Great show.

@@terenfenn9672 Well, saw him 1972 in Bakersfield, CA. He was nearly as demonstrative as he is here. Just an amazing guitarist.
