@@zerocal76 Exactly, this was a big disappointment as a hooper. I remember coming back to my hometown after going to college and the guys were talking about this kid a year behind me who was so nice and all this and I couldn't guard him. Just know he scored once the whole day on me and he couldn't stop me. For me it's a pride thing, if you can lockdown the best player on the other team and he can't stop you. You're gonna win 9/10, the 1 time you might lose if someone who's not that good gets lucky. I grew binge watching everything Kobe, both defensively and offensively. Most of these kids just watch his highlights, I watched the full games.

@@BigBen1994 We're a lot alike man You'll know exactly what I'm talking about with this: There's always one, two maybe even 3 guys on your team in a pickup game who won't want to guard a guy whos quick/good whatever. They don't want to get worked or they don't want to try their hardest just to play ok-defense. Who steps right in or takes the matchup w/o anyone even saying anything? Guys like you or I man. I am getting old though 🧓😅 so its getting harder for me to keep that mentality as much as I don't want to lose it. Enjoy every minute, everyday of this sport man! bc when its over you'll never be able to enjoy it the same way. What city was this pseudo hot-shot hooper playing with u at?

@@zerocal76 I know what you mean lol this happened when I was 19 at my childhood rec center in the Bay Area. But I just played yesterday for the first time in a month and I stayed on the court for 3hrs straight. Everyone just got tired and didn't want to play anymore lol. I went to the gym for a month straight with no breaks and got in shape, before I tried to just come out of this lockdown and try to play pickup. I'm only 26, but playing these high school kids they can run for days on the court. I remember having that type of energy and stamina. But they don't like guarding someone who is killing them, they always want to switch their matchup lol.
