I get what you mean I think it's mainly because while both are great singers, Frank Sinatra understood that a singer's instrument is also his microphone and he really learned to play with all these little effects

I may be wrong but with that gorgeous string introduction this sounds like a Gordon Jenkins arrangement. Gordon truly was masterful in the use of strings with his orchestrations. Frank as always captures the essence of the lyrics in telling the story of a song like no other singer I know. What a perfect song to usher in the beginning of the fall season. It really puts one in an atumnal state of mind. For those who would like to see Frank perform this song in a lighter vein check out Frank's duet of "Autumn Leaves" with Bob Hope on piano. It's on KZfaq or at least it used to be.

The people who disliked were just too shocked and missed the like button. This is one of the songs‚ that shouldn't have a dislike button‚ to avoid such accidents. Frank Sinatra deserves all the love of the world.

Anyone who like this fabulous song, may also like the 1956 film starring Joan Crawford and Cliff Robertson. The title song was sung by incomparable Nat King Cole.However, Sinatra that master of mood offers a different but fabulous version.I feel one cannot say which is best - as they both have strengths. However, making a cover version is always difficult for an artist and I feel that Sinatra gives it his all..!
