When belts out the last "wrong or right" lines the note wrong is sharp once, he knows it and doesn't make that mistake again. Little Anthony doesn't "play what's written" he writes it, as he plays and if he sings a little sharp or flat it's part of his groove.

This is from the 1969 USA Tv special: "Sinatra", with the Don Costa orchestra. Even with laryngitis Frank's timbre, vocal delivery, phrasing & interpretative powers are outstanding. Perhaps, all the more so. 😮He looks great, IMHO, no wonder Mia found him attractive a few years earlier.

Woke up at 5 am then listened to Ray Coniff album Honey in KZfaq from my samsung Note 10+, thru my bt speaker with modified electronic. Going out of my head was the last song in the album, and it just strike the strings in my heart, how sweet and sad is this song, that i knew perhaps since 1970, and listened to it repeatedly in the sunny Singapore, or snowy Montreal. Then i must find all version of going out of my head... Now I live in Singapore again but wonder how many people and who still remember and like this song. The music of 1960s are very special, they are sweet and thick with emotions. Remember by the time I get to Phoenix, love is blue, wonderland by night, etc.

I'm so glad this is back on KZfaq. I bet the people who kept taking this great cover down are fans of today's "music" which is the same ol' shit: Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Eminem, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Cardi B, Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, Meek Mill, Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Rocky, Fetty Wap, Charli XCX, Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor, Charlie Puth, Jason Derulo, One Direction, and Maroon 5. Time to trade in those so called "artists" for the real artists of music: Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Frank Zappa.

The song is not up to the standards of the singer here. But, it proves that Frank could sing anything he wanted to sing masterfully. That's just one of th reasons why he really was a "master musical genius." People like this don't exist these days...or, if they do exist, they can't make a living actually singing in public.
@GregoryOrme9 жыл бұрын
Herb April No disrespect to Frank, who is a legend, but two other artists made the Billboard Top Ten in the 1960s with this song, whereas Frank's version languished near the bottom of the charts. If anything, the arrangement here is somewhat pedestrian, but I cannot agree that the song itself is lacking. It is a song that seems as if it would have been a good fit for Ol' Blue Eyes, but he doesn't really bring anything to it that others had not.
@richardcondon37978 жыл бұрын

I can't see how Little Anthony's version can even be compared to Sinatra's. The shades that Sinatra confers to every single line I can't find in Little Anthony's version. "Arrangement pedestrian"? I don't know what you mean, but then what about Little Anthony's? Now, wikipedia lists tens of different versions, but I presume the other version you're referring to is Mendes (I don't have my Whitburn at hand) better sung though I don't have the bossa rhythm doesn't fit well. I always thought that Sinatra's version, especially this live version, is the definitve one. But, of course, you're entitled to your opinion.
