I remembered the clip of Frank Spangenberg from 10th anniversary tournament 1993 episode was shown on the 20th anniversary Jeopardy before final jeopardy but in my memory version, it was dark.

I remember Frank Spangenberg being on the show and I would recognize him if I saw him. He was a very recognizable face, and quite tall. He was the Ken Jennings of his time.

I was watching an older episode with him on it and he was trying his hardest to answer the questions but that other lady Leslie kept beating him to it. Like I was laughing because he was almost shaking the button thing trying to answer it first but that lady kept beating him to it.

I remember that. Ironically, the resulting tension in his hand probably slowed him down by a fraction of a second.

January 15, 1990 was the airdate of his fifth win, his first game aired 27 years ago tonight. The limit was $75K from 1984-90, raised to $100K in the 1990-91 season, and $200K in the 1997-98 season(when they started awarding cars for time time champions, which continued until Summer 2003), and there's been no limit since September 2003 when the five game limit was stopped.

Officially, Not anymore. But in certain extreme circumstances, it's still done. Look up a contestant from a few years ago named Cindy Stowell for what she did with her winnings, and why.
