Sadly, it was also a tragic year, because we lost Freddie Prinze ("Chico And The Man"), Elvis Presley (coincidentally, he died forty years ago today), Gummo and Groucho Marx (they died within four months of each other), Bing Crosby, and three members of the Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd (lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, and back-up singer Cassie Gaines [Steve Gaines' sister]).

Freaking awesome band. I'm only here because of the movie. I buzz every time I hear the vocals. The falsetto from the backing vocals got me in the groove. Back in the days where music and vocals gelled and meant something. Love it

"Take You Back" was first recorded on the Rocky soundtrack (United Artists Records 1976). Valentine later had their own album, the eponymous _Valentine_ (RCA Victor 1978).

What was I thinking back then -- I thought Ambrosia recorded this. I always knew, though, that Frank Stallone didn't just appear out of nowhere and record songs (great songs!) for the Stayin' Alive soundtrack. Such an amazing voice, wonderful talent and handsomeness!

Big fan of Frank. His self titled album has some great other tracks like 'Far From Over' and 'Runnin' if you like workout montage-esq songs. Saw him sing this recently on 'Darryl's House' too, albeit a couple of keys lower ;) Still great!
