@@Thetruepianoman From what I can gather, Karl often raises questions over things like "am I in charge on my brain, or is my brain in charge of me". This also raises the philosophical issue of free Will v determinism. Karl says things that make it sound like his 'mind' and maybe the 'mind' of things like his feet and eyes, have their own agency. Ricky believes that there are no souls or spirits or a person controlling everything. The only thing to Ricky that exists is matter. The mind is generated by the brain.

Karl goes with whatever pops into his mind - under the pressure of a question at hand - while on mic. You can tell he used to just defend this notion - whatever it is - and just stick to it and flush it out a bit, while on the spot. This was often the pattern. Slugs were on his mind - so slugs (he actually points this out). This wasn't the 1st time he mentioned slugs. But people with the wrong brain vs job - not that's some wacky Karl for you!!! Many topics that appeared on the animated show were brought up previously on XFM radio shows. But it was all still FREE content coming from the brilliant combo of Steve/Ricky + Karl. If you haven't dug into the XFM material - you've got a treasure trove of content - get on it!

Actually, for the first time, the bit where Karl talks about taking the dictionary with him to a desert island struck me as quite poignant. Oh my god, I think Karl is on to something. Like, a better example is people with depression or anxiety, who genuinely want to do something and have the thought and desire to do it, but then they aren't able to take action and do what they've thought of because of the impact of anxiety/depression on the motivation functions of the brain, or because there are physical effects of anxiety and depression (heart, energy metabolism, etc) which can then cause problems when that person really wants to do something they've thought up, but can't physically do it. Now, I don't think people with mental health problems should be put in the room, but I think that Karl has definitely described this complication of mental health problems in general, or even some conditions like ADHD which cause executive functioning disorder, which is also what Karl seems to be describing here. He's a genius, he just doesn't have a very broad vocabulary or doesn't fully understand the concepts he's stumbled upon or observed independently, so we get comedy gold. Brilliant.
