Selena sí nació en USA, pero sus padres son de origen mexicano. El padre de Selena en su juventud fue parte de una banda llamada Los Dinos que no tuvo éxito. Después él se casó y tuvo hijos, con el tiempo se dió cuenta de que sus hijos tenían talento, en especial Selena, así que decidió formar otra banda y le puso por nombre "Selena y Los Dinos" en recuerdo a la anterior. En ese entonces Selena era una niña y no hablaba nada de español, pero su padre la enseñó a cantar en español y claro, le explicaba la letra de lo que estaba cantando para que también pudiera poner sentimiento a las canciones. Así pasaron varios años esperando una oportunidad hasta que por fin se dió, pero su gran éxito fue cuando llegó a Monterrey, México, eso fue lo que la hizo despegar por todo lo alto y sus canciones se convirtieron en grandes éxitos, pero aún cuando cantaba en español ella todavía no lo hablaba muy bien, más con el tiempo ella llegó a hablarlo y comprenderlo mejor. Y cuando estaba en la cima de su carrera, recién casada con el amor de su vida y con muchos sueños por cumplir y muchos años por delante, llega una mujer que se decía ser su "fan número 1" y le dispara por la espalda con premeditación, alevosía y ventaja, ¡ojalá esa maldita se pudra en la cárcel! As far as being American, well, usually people in South Texas will still say they are Mexican as opposed to American even if they were born in the u.s., especially from her generation. There is a palpable feeling of being Mexican first before American. But u would have to see the movie to get a better sense of what I mean. It's like having one foot in Mexico and the other in the u.s. and never really being of one or the other, you're your own thing if that makes sense??? Try to find a live version of her ballad "no me queda mas" or just watch the official video. It's a very passionate song, it literally translate to " I have nothing left". 💔
