Donna, the chimp, was taking on a masculine role, not a male role. As he said earlier, some males aren’t as masculine and have no interest in becoming dominant or worry themselves with politics. That doesn’t make them female identifying or Donna male identifying. Using “male” and “female” instead of “masculine” and “feminine” is confusing and seems to ignore the personality spectrum of the sexes. Simply classifying them by sex stereotypes seems reductive.
