Fascinating seeing the actual place the assassination took place. I thought the grave was going to be simple and inconspicuous, I see I was completely wrong!

Very interesting isn't it. Gavrilo is clearly a hero to some, it all plays into messy Balkan politics.

Thank you, glad you liked it. I always wondered what it actually looked like, how close was Gavrilo etc... now we see, he was very close. He really cannot have missed.

I still wonder if someone signaled to the driver to make the left turn at the Latin Bridge junction. Leading the Archduke and his wife to the assassin. Unless the driver was concerned they would run into more attempts on the Duke's life on the same stretch of road. Maybe the Duke told the driver to take a right.

It was a mistake by the leading car, that turned right into the corner (back then the traffic ran both ways on the street, the Archduke was travelling in the opposite direction from the modern traffic- I should have made that clear in the video), the Archduke's driver followed that mistake, then " Governor Potiorek, who was sharing the third vehicle with the Imperial couple, called out to the driver to stop as he was going the wrong way.[94] The driver applied the brakes, and when he attempted to put the car into reverse gear he accidentally stalled the engine close to where Princip was standing." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Archduke_Franz_Ferdinand#Fatal_shooting

@@chrisdale-militaryhistory Your explanation was spot on. I am an American but love Eurpopean history. Have been researching the siege of Sarajevo which led me to the Archduke. All I can say about The Balkans especially Bosnia Herzagovina is wow. I can't get enough.

Thanks @@funguykel Bosnia Herzegovina is a great country, I love the place. I was first there in 1994 during the siege and have been back a lot since. I also videoed the Bosnian History Museum, which has some relics of the siege and some fascinating artillery and AFVs. I'll upload that video soon.

the death of this emperor brought the world the war which was nothing like before. powerful super powers like Austrian empire and German empire and Russian empire and Ottoman empire and French empire and US and Japan and Italy and much much more went to face each other in the bloodiest conflict in human history. may emperor archeduke Franze Ferdinand rest in peace.

synchronicity! re numbers>>> the plate of the auto FF was riding in reads: A III I8...or A for Armistice; II is eleven>> II is for November; and of course ((19)) 18...strange, eh?

Yes it does. It was severely damaged in the Bosnian War but has since been totally restored. Sorry, I should have filmed that too.

Yes the Town Hall (Vijecnica) is still there, but had to be significantly repaired after the civil war in the 90s, so it looks 'new' rather than historically worn out like one might think. lol

@@veganpope It was not a civil war but an aggression against an internationally recognized state.

The town hall (Vijećnica) was burned down during the siege of Sarajevo (in August 1992). To make the damage even worse, at that time the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina was located in the Town Hall. It is estimated that the aggressor burned about 2 million books (about 98% of the total number of books. Today, that building is used for the needs of the museum, public events, the mayor and the city assembly.

May God bless the souls of Franz an his wife.I am no royalist but them being murdered on a peaceful visit was beastial evil. And should never have happened.

I am against murder too. However Franz Ferdinand's visit wasn't entriely peaceful he was attended military manoevres in Bosnia, which potentially were aimed at an invasion of Serbia. Bosnia itself country which had recently been militarily conquered, occupied and annexed by Austria.
