Franz Schubert - Ständchen (Serenade) arr. J. K Mertz

One of Schubert's most famous lied, Ständchen (Serenade) is found in the posthumously published song cycle Schwanengesang.
The song is converted here into a literal "song without words" by J.K Mertz, who undoubtedly got his inspiration from Liszt's arrangement for solo piano.
The guitar I am playing is a sort of "Frankenguitar", by Mark Usherovich. This is another one of those instruments I borrowed and couldn't let go! The 7th string is movable, so that one may have it floating (great for lower pitches), or as an active, fretted 7th string above the neck.
The body is in the style of Lacote, but the headstock is Stauffer, which is really the best headstock for and odd number of strings.

Thank you I really appreciate that. Tempo is always a big concern for me. Strangely, depending on my mood, the same recording will sometimes sound rushed, and other times too slow. Hence, lot's or pre-recordings to get something in the middle.

Wow, absolutely beautiful, I love how you play the basses along with the trebles at around 1:45-2:32. This is probably the best playing I ever heard you did, well done and keep the melody going and play beautifully 😊

I do have a couple movement of sonatas I'd really like to do. Sadly my duo partner moved far away, so right now the plan is to do some collaborations with some great artists around Toronto.
