Thanks for another wonderful video. When you visit these beautiful old churches, I would love it if you would use the first few seconds to show the exterior of the church as a well as a view of the organ from the nave. I will probably never be able to visit these places, so it would add a lot to your videos for many of us.

The improve piece you played is so beautiful. I could listen to it over and over. What a genius of harmony he was. I'm glad you selected that piece to play. The voices of this organ are most pleasing. They seem to be wonderfully unique in many cases. What a joy that instrument must be for you to play. Baroque/Neo-Baroque organs are so beautiful and have the nicest sound! You really showed what it could do but I agree some Bach would fit perfectly!

Many thanks for this very interesting organ demo and church tour. The organ is lovely-sounding - especially the 8' Großgedackt in the Rückpositiv. And the Karg-Elert was beautiful. I agree with you: he's one of many often-neglected composers (like Guilmant, etc.) whose music should be performed more often. There's a wonderful contrast between the warm and singing Principal and Flute stops and the bright Mixtur/Scharff/Zimbel stops. Glad to hear the two(!) 1' stops - lamentably, and too-often, left out of organs. They come in so handy for the Bach Trio Sonatas, etc. Although it's a bit unfortunate that there are no String stops (Salizional, Gamba, etc.). Thanks, also, for the link to the organ's stoplist. Much appreciated.

Lovely video, and very informative, as always. Beautiful organ with a lovely sound. I'm also a nature lover, so I like how the church is doing its bit for wildlife by installing the Barn Owl nest box.

Shout out to Sigfrid Karg-Elert! The "Music of the Night" from the Three Impressions (I believe) Op. 58 is one of my favourite pieces of organ music. To say nothing of his march on "Nun Danket Alle Gott". Thank-you again Fraser for your hard work.

What a beautiful instrument. I recently heard a performance from the hr-Sinfonie, one of my favourite orchestras (in nearby Frankfurt) which included the organ of the concert hall - to my mind a horrendous instrument judging by that one performance. Such a delight to hear the exquisite contrast of this organ. As for the comments you have received against informality and frivolity in a church - don't these people realize that Christianity is a joyous religion? And thank you for the Karg-Elert item - I have (and play) that from an album of his music I've owned and enjoyed for years but never heard played by anyone other than myself!

Would really appreciate if you could show the context of the organ as if you were visiting for a recital. Arriving outside the church and then entering the nave. Gives a better understanding of the instrument.

Oh, what a great video, Fraser!! I still cannot get over how clean your office looks... is it always like this? Love the quality of the video in the church... it’s so crisp and clear. I especially enjoy your anecdotes at the beginning... always interesting to hear historical notes on the organ, the place where the church is situated, etc. For us in the “New World” a little bit of European history is always welcomed. Love too, the panned shots into the Church... though it was way too quick. You mentioned the word “prospect” a few times... what does this mean exactly? Your explanations on the organ’s innards are very interesting, pointing out the arrangement of ranks by thirds, etc. It’s only when I hear your explanations, do I begin to understand the effects this has on the overall sound of the organ in the church... something I usually wouldn’t consider, playing in my living room on my Hauptwerk virtual organ. I absolutely loved the last segment showing the owl sanctuary! Shining a light on the goings on in the nooks and crannies of the church rafters is a delight! Remember the little bedroom in the organ from one of your earlier videos? What a lovely education you are providing!! This organ has a glorious sound.... yes please, a little Bach would be nice, if it’s not too much trouble... a few bars of BWV582? ... just a few...😊🙏🏼Thank you so much Fraser, for these most enjoyable videos. Perhaps the Prelude and Fugue in E-flat major would be perfect! Bach's longest prelude, and (in my opinion) his best fugue. That Rückpositiv chorus is already in 'organo pleno' enough for the fugue! It's quite difficult and a long two movements, but It'd be great to hear. One of the most hardcore Bach pieces.

Fantastic video fine sir! love your demonstrations, they are very informative. As an organ enthusiast myself I have trouble pronouncing the names of some of the more unique, and complex registers. It was unfortunate that the organs reed stops had pitch issues, but guess that happens to all organs know and then. For me an organ without reeds is a cake without sugar. The reeds bring brilliance, and stridency to the instrument. Love your wonderful, and rich content as well!!! :)

Wonderful video Fraser! These old organs absolutely make my heart sing! We don't have anything like this in Canada so it's such a treat to see and hear instruments like this up close and in detail. I love your idea to return to this organ if possible and play some Bach.

What a cool (and beautiful) church.😁 Obviously, the organ has been *very* well cared for, as evidenced by the condition of the console and the visible pipework. Even with the reeds being a little off, it sounds amazing! You're right, it definitely needs the 'Bach treatment' in the near future. Maybe the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G major (BWV1048)? You'd probably have to task your wife and someone else for turning pages and pulling stops though!🤣😉🎵🎶🎵👍

Great video as usual! I would love it if you could make a video about improvisation...even chordal Preambula that freely move around keys. The little simple tricks used by organists to prolongue things a bit if needed. Things like that. Cheers!

Regarding recording, where would you do it from? I have only tinkered with an organ a few times but, as a (bad) pianist, the thing that I found disconcerting was the delay between pressing the key and the sound coming out of the back of the organ and bouncing off the West wall of the church before I heard it. That's the thing that put me off learning the instrument. Well, that and lack of talent.

What an exquisite survivor through the ages! May I suggest that for your next "milestone" in subscriber numbers (or maybe the 50K mark??) you use this instrument and slay us all with what I know would be a "take no prisoners" rendition of BWV 577. Yes........the Fugue a' la Gigue by Johnny Bach. That organ and that piece together......... with you at the bench......ROCK AND ROLL, BABY!!!

Wow what happened? Could be me but suddenly the camera work looks super documentary style professional!

Inexplicable mic weirdness? You may well be suffering from the effects of the dreaded standing waves... Looking at where you were sitting, it's possible... basically the sound waves are bouncing off the parallel surfaces either side of you, hitting/mixing with each other out of phase, and thus cancelling each other out. This can produce weird, unpredictable effects like making you sound off-mic, tinny, and/or almost inaudible. You can use acoustic foam to solve this by absorbing the reflections, or just prop a bit of wood at a jaunty angle on one side to bounce the reflections away in a different direction, ie away from your mic. Test your setup by listening on headphones before you start recording, and tweak the shape and squishiness of your space until it sounds normal. Thanks for your videos, Fraser. As a German-speaking Brit with a weird fascination for church organs, you're ticking quite a few of my boxes!

One thing that always confused me is the mixture ranks. You said that there's a sharf mixture on this organ that's a 3 rank mixture, while the organ I practice and play on has a 4 rank sharf mixture. What do the ranks mean and how much does it change the color/tone?
