The projector took me back to the 70's. When we were kids, in the summers, our dad would go to the library and check out reel-to-reels, and the whole neighborhood would come over and we'd watch Laurel & Hardy, Ma & Pa Kettle, etc on a sheet hung from the clothesline. You know, back before we all had 1000 channels and access to most movies on our phones. Good times!

A piece of data you might consider including in your next review would be the 'native resolution' vs the projected or upscaled resolution. The native resolution is the reason why you can see large pixels when walking up to the wall. For instance, I highly doubt that this has a native 1080 HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels). It looks more like 852x480, which is often standard for these cheaper projectors. However in the main description they will often feature that it can 'scale' up to HD or even 4k, but will hide the true native resolution somewhere in the detailed specs. Thanks for the review!

I've owned a lot of projectors in my life. I can say that the best cheap ones I ever owned are older, high end office projectors. But not your average cheap ones. The 1080p projector I currently use in my living room was $9900, 11 years ago. I got it for $125, plus $90 for a new bulb. It's bright enough to watch movies outside, during the day, and it's got analog keystone adjustment and tilt shift

I bought the TMY mini 1080 projector for under $100, and it blows this one you bought out of the water. Picture is very clear for roughly $100. I was shocked. I plug a fire stick into it all powered by my bluetti eb3a and it last about 6 hours at night. I stream sports games and watch it on 100” screen in my backyard. Guests think it’s an expensive setup, cost me all in total $350. Best purchase, and best of all it’s PORTABLE! It’s still cool for $75 bucks! Great review! Thank you.

I am glad that you decided to do an actual projector, hopefully you will do more in the near future. I have a projector and I have been using that for movies on my ceiling, it's not the same projector that you reviewed as the ones I have has two HDMI ports and not one. It also allows for Bluetooth, so I can use a boombox that allows Bluetooth for close to a theatrical experience as possible. I don't have time to go to the movies, so I use a projector for movies I bought.

Trust me a tv will always be better not only on resolution but brightness color vibrancy and contrast unless you spend thousand on your projector. I have a high end theater and spent just over 2k on my projector and it’s still not even full native 4k while my tcl 75” tv is native 4k with impressive contrast brightness and full hdr support. The reason you get a projector is mainly the ability to have a screen size over 100” without it costing 10k+ 😊

Based on what I saw of this clip, this projector appears to be pretty much exactly like my Dr. J Professional model: HI-04. They share the same menu appearance, remote and hook ups. They come with identical cables. Different look and color. So far, not bad for the price. It's not something you want to leave on all night unless using it. The lamps dont have as much life span as a TV. Picture is a bit dull but crisp lines compared to the older technology. Native 720p but can accept 1080. Though its still good quality at 100 inches, its better when I drop the size some. Its better on a bright solid white target as opposed to a screen that lets light travel through it, making the picture darker

I've had a $700 projector for about 5 years now (popular brand, but I don't want to name them right now). I used it as a main TV, so it was used many hours a day. The first one had the light go out after 11 months. Luckily within the 1 year warranty. The 2nd one went out 1.5 years later. It was no longer under any warranty. But, after a lot of emails and discussions, they agreed to send me one more unit. Both times I got new units, they were refurbished, not new. Now I have had my 3rd unit for a year or so. I hear there are new laser projectors, maybe their light system lasts longer? But, my unit is not customer fixable. Cannot change out or order the light unit ourselves. I have a 16 year old Samsung 40" LED TV that I got back in 2008. It is still the best TV in my home. Best color and contrast. It has been on 24/7 for many years. Projectors are great. But when this 3rd one I have finally goes out, I'm not sure I'll pay to get another. A large TV will last longer, be brighter, and won't cost any more either.

Now I do also have a little pocket projector, and a compact roll out 40" screen. Great for outdoors and camping! Has it's own battery in unit, but can also plug it into any usb battery backup for extended time. Looks amazing at night, especially out back the house, or while camping, whatever. Not at all good in bright conditions.

Interesting and for the money it is fine. I purchased a slightly more expensive Kodak Slim that runs on an internal battery I added blue tooth with a dongle so I can project it on my hot tub cover when I am in the spa and it looks and sounds great when connected to my external speaker. I spent about 150 bucks for it and it looks great such that my son keeps stealing it so he can play games on this bedroom wall. I almost went with this cheaper version but opted for a more expensive and insanely small version that looks much better and brighter. Great video.

This kind of picture quality honestly looks perfectly doable for what I’m primarily looking to use a projector for… I often sleep with the tv running on low brightness and I just want to be able to project reruns of old shows like KotH onto my ceiling. Doesn’t have to be great picture quality and many of the shows I’d be watching with it do not even have 720p. I also prefer low brightness for this usage. It’d be nice to get a cheaper projector that I could still use in other scenarios too(like maybe backyard get-togethers) and still enjoy some reasonable quality… more bang for the buck, but only if the value is right. I’d be 100% fine with what you’ve shown here for my sleep watching. Thanks for the review.

Cheap projectors are junk, trust me. Unless you have a niche/novelty application for it, anything under $1000 is worse than a cheaper TV. The projectors Amazon page says it supports 4k multiple times, but it actually is only 1080p (if thats even accurate, most sub $100 are 720p), it supports 4k INPUT but displays at 1080p, most cheap projectors are similarly scammy. A few issues that people who have never owned a projector will run into: they have loud FANS, so that can ruin your experience. They are extremely light sensitive so they get washed out in rooms with light. They are awkward to setup in a room and will require planning around, unlike a TV which just mounts to any wall and is perfect. Trust me, I've had multiple highly reviewed $500-$700 projectors and am now back to TV's.
@andy.bernard
@andy.bernard 5 ай бұрын
And honestly even then, over 1k is meh. You really need to drop some serious cash to get a good projector. I'm talking close to 10k to get something that's comparable to a standard 2k LED or MiniLED. Otherwise you'll get muddy, dull picture quality that'll never look as good as an actual TV and certainly never as good as an oled.

Yeah. My dad is the only person I've met with an actual good one, and he's got a custom built (by him) home cinema that he spent a decade working on. To the point that when they moved, they made sure to get a house with a seperate dining room so he could move his home theater. The projection screen is actually on hinges and he's got his thousands of DVDs stored behind it. But he's also worked in the cinema industry for almost 40 years, so he knew what he was doing and made sure to get it right because he's very passionate about movies.

I'm really happy that you did a tutorial video on projectors under $100 on Amazon so I didn't have to do on myself but I will tell you that when a projector's keystone doesn't work you also have to have the right angle because it's a budget one it doesn't have a built-in camera adjuster for its lenses which would automatically do it so you can put it at any level of height. Anyways the most important thing here is that screen mirroring is only for Android. It is a trademarked name. Airplay is for Apple because they had to make their own so when you see any of these projectors they are Android or linux-based so none of those screen mirroring things will work for your Apple iPhone you have to download an external app or just plug in a fire Stick and not have to deal with any of that to begin with but the default settings will always be Android and you will never be able to screen mirror off an iPhone because the truth is that entire company makes garbage phones but Americans are deceived because you're only marketed what they allow you to be marketed so you don't even know the vast technology of what a real good Android phone is because you guys have a tendency to sell really shitty Androids and then have a bad rep for it even though Samsung is changing the game, we have many companies in China and Japan that make phenomenal phones outside of these American garbage Androids which you guys have made Americans feel bad for using when really they are the dominant operating system. You can use screen mirroring on an Android and AirPlay on an Android but you can't do the same for Apple or can you download any content or have any modded apps for free because who wants to pay all this garbage money for apps in the first place. I'm getting off topic but thank you for doing the review I really appreciate it

I bought almost the same damn projector a few months ago 😂 it just has a different name. Mine is Comaogo. Mine was also only 45 bucks. The screen issue with pixelation is the same. It gets better when the projector is closer to the wall, but I'm a big screen guy so I kind of put up with it. That filter thing is in fact a dust filter. The remote was by far the worst of it. It couldn't be read beyond 3 feet and there were certain zones that it would read. It's so frustrating that I actually got pissed off 😂. Regarding the keystone correction, I found that keeping the projector level and you won't have any blurring issues. Also, my instructions say up to 300 inches and so did Amazon, but when I tested it myself, the manual focus only allows for up to 100. For a cheap projector, I can't really complain. But if you're looking for really good quality, you'll have to spend a lot more money.

The director has its drawbacks but it also has its advantages. For instance it's cheaper than a TV the picture may not be as good but it's portable a TV is not it does not take up room on your wall either the only room it takes up is the room for a screen which could also be something that could be Hideaway. And that's a cheaper projector too like you said they have ones that are 1080p and up and my brother loves projectors he has an entire movie theater set up in his house with a projector and it's pretty awesome actually.

A lot of people complain that projectors have washed out color. That is what you get projecting it against a white background. Projecting it on a black screen fixes that issue, but with cheap projectors like these, they usually don't have a good lumen rating so on a black screen you gain your color correction, but lose brightness.

Of course, "Temu Slicer Video" was the critics' choice, but "James with hair" has had a much greater cultural impact.

I would love to see you try one of the BenQ projectors I've heard they are game changing they do have a few models. Pricey but still under 1000$ most of the time as far as I can tell. A very good television is still 400-1000$ so would be a fun comparison.

You'd be better off buying a decent TV from Walmart or Amazon for under $400.

I think at that price point, you can't expect great resolution, but you SHOULD expect all advertised features to work, and keystone and focus should work better.

Thing is with these inexpensive projectors is that they're pixelated because the actual resolution of them is like 720p or so - which when projected against a non-perfect wall or something is fine for a party or casual event. And - it's quite impressive compared to the projector I bought many years ago for $1500 that could only do 480p/component video - and used expensive bulbs as well. Technology has come a long way. (and yes - it's much easier to carry on a plane than a 65" flat screen TV.. heh)

The best selling projector on Amazon is the Happen native 1080p which probably has a better picture. I have the Xidu native 1080 p, currently $128.05 on Amazon. One of the brightest projectors in this class.

If you want incredible resolution, contrast and color reproduction with a REALLY big screen (not some 85" baby TV screen) nothing beats a high-end, quality projector. You can even get a high-end ultra short throw projector. Prices are usually $2k and up. Regardless, if you spend 75 bones on a cheap projector, you kinda get what you pay for 🤣

Should've Watched a few videos the haprun is great for under 100 native 1080p and brighter than most others also the vizony with coupon also under 100 at time I paid 80 for mine and is on the brighter side. Most people use a firestick and it's screen mirroring is much better. And for 200 dollar range you can actually get a projector where you can have ambient light and still get a quality picture.

You do realize that Amazon has a few projectors with electric focus and auto-focus that are also under $100. Those are better than manual focus.

Your keystone is out because you’re pointing the image up. Point it straight and that will fix it. Keystone adjustment is only minimal.

The reason mirroring didn't work is most likely it need Apple airplay, and since they need to pay Apple loyalty to use it, it will add on the cost. Unlike Android open source, so I assume it works only with Androids mirroring. My guess, hope it's helpful.
