I've been wanting to try one of these portable washing machines for a while now, so today I'm putting it to the test to see how it works. There are numerous models online that look the same or similar, many of which are less expensive. I went with the model with the most reviews on Amazon.

I think this is meant for small items like socks, underwear, hand towels etc. However, I think it would work best if you put items of the same type in it for the spin dry to work. Different size items throw it off balance.

Unless the weight is perfectly even and equally distributed around the basket, I doubt it. You have basically a motor attached with an apparently weak lock to the bottom of a basket full of clothes. For it to run smoothly you would need a pretty solid coupling plus counterweight for the whole thing (like a regular washing machine). Even then, that small motor probably wouldn't be able to spin fast enough to get any water out. The dryer function was probably just an afterthought by the designers to make it more attractive.

In the drying cycle you're supposed to push the damp clothes down to remove excess water and also to distributes the weight equally, that's what i do with my manual centrifuge dryer. Otherwise you'll have a noisy machine moving everywhere and not spinning up to its full rps mode.

That makes no sense, that would make the clothes more dense, making it less likely for the water to make its way out. Best chance at getting water out is loose packed, so it has room for the water to go outwards through the slits. This thing is just a piece of shit.

@@rdizzy1 It's drier from centrigual force, it being compressed in the bottom won't affect how well it dries, it being balanced is far more important

@@mellow3995 Yes it will effect it, The clothes on the outside block the water from the clothes in the inner part from escaping outwards, it just launches the water out from the outer clothes, and the inner clothes are still too wet. Especially compared to a spin cycle of a full sized washer. The force exerted by these shitty portable washers spinning is absolutely pitiful.

@@rdizzy1yeah the water in the outer clothes is flung out but the water in the inner clothes just sits there because it doesn't have permission to enter the personal space of the outer clothes. 🤣

this looks perfect to wash the washcloths I use to mop my floors or clean around the house. I don't feel like putting those in my regular washing machine but I also don't want to wash them by hand. Thanks for the review!

I have an RV/portable washer. It's about halfway between this and a full sized washer. I also have a spin drier that holds a full portable washer full of laundry. The balancing takes a minute and sometimes I have to move things around to get it to work. The washer worked great. They do sell detergent made for not rinsing that you don't have to run a second cycle for.

However, the rinse cycle is what gets the stuff clean. The detergent loosens the dirt, the rinse takes it away. I always double rinse my laundry.

@@peggywoods4327 actually the detergent loosens and separates dirt from the fabric in the first cycle. The rinse cycle does not do much in terms of cleaning. It is to finish the cleaning, but mostly - to remove the detergent completely, as it is not good to have it on your clothes. But a detergent, that does not have the tendency to stay with the fabric - may be easier to rinse. So, such a special detergent, in theory could be used without rinsing. However, I myself distrust that the chemistry industry is that good, so I still think a rinse cycle is a must. An extra rinsing is not necessary in most cases, though (depends on the type of fabric - thick fabric may require extra rinse).

I used a Wonder Wash in a previous apartment. It holds about five items, no spin rinse, but great for emergencies. Also useful when you don't have power.

I had the Wonder Wash. It's not as effective as a 5 gallon bucket and washing wand. I asked a friend to take an agitator from a small washing machine, attach to a board, place on 5 gallon bucket upside down...... WOW! The Wonder Wash has no ability for drying. Neither does a washing wand. There are manual spin dryers, but they are not very effective. I LOVE my Ninja spin dryer. That thing will pay for electricity costs within a month.

@@CelticSpiritsCovenI used the Laundry Alternative's spin dryer with mine until I was able to upgrade to their nice mini washer that hooks up to a faucet. We were renting an apt with an expensive coin laundry in the building so it helped a lot.

I got mine today. Tested. It works and cleans things. I did 2, 10 min wash cycles. and one 5 min rinse. Not used spin cycle but tested and it works. As small items, easy to ring out with hands but I do have a spinner. Also added stain remover in with detergents. Items were fully clean, water dirty on cycle 1. Live in appartment. Easier to have these things for my needs and if your on a budget great. Happy with results. Just wanted it for underwear and socks, odd work item. Paid £22 Temu.

As someone who has used a portable washer unit with a spin side, as mentioned in the comments, you have to balance, the wet clothes in the basket

Yes and they usually have a flat disc that goes on top of the clothes to hold them down while spinning. I usually just hold the machine while it’s spinning. They do actually work quite well.

I used to have a fantastic portable washing machine. It was a bit of a learning (curve) experience to figure out how to get it to work with or how I needed to.. unfortunately I've had to replace it after 5 years and now it's no longer available and all the other brands clearly state cold water only. Took a bit of searching to discuss that the reason they're all now cold water only is because warm water makes the plastic crack and breaks, which is why mine needed to be replaced.. so if anyone has or gets this don't use hot water. As for the spin part. The clothes must be centered..in this video, for example, the T-shirt 👕 should be pulled out and folded in half sleeve to sleeve and then folded again to make it long and narrow then wind it inside the basket closest to the inside of the outer edge.. it has to do with centrifical force. It's similar to putting sauce on a pizza. You put the majority of the sauce closest to the outer edge of the crust and move inward because as it heats up everything moves to the center. Once I figured this out my spinning clothes were almost already dry.

The Laundry Alternative used to sell a small but effective countertop spin dryer which made hand washing work better so I didn’t have to wring clothes. They stopped selling that model and have a different one now. I’ve used a Panda spin dryer, which is high capacity and really fast but it’s big-also helped with the hand washing process (for me a plunger washer and basin). I eventually got a Panda mini dryer to help with wrinkles after spin drying. I hate sharing laundry equipment due to severe fragrance allergy so have tried lots of laundry gadgets!

One key thing most people don't realize is your regular washing machine spins before the rinse cycle. It also adds a little water and spins again. There's another portable washer I've seen people don't rinse the clothes well enough because they don't spin the soap out first. I'd be curious what an appliance repair person thought. Maybe you could ask a local place to put the machine through its paces?

Not an appliances repair person but I can tell you quick washes are not for clothes that touch your skin. It's too short a cycle to clean and if the water temperature is low the wash quality will be worse. This is for mops or rags and I really don't see much use beyond given the manual effort required per cycle

For a household, I can see this being useful for small things you don’t want in your regular washer, like shop rags or diapers and messed baby clothes. Nice for small loads of hand washable items, too. The compact storage size does make it nice for a dorm or small apartment situation. I had to hand wash clothes when I lived overseas. It sucks. There’s a reason the washing machine was invented and became a household item. The poor spin cycle, that requires hand wringing anyway, is a big downfall.

@@speakp4ngolin That's not enough for underwear and diapers, at least 140f/60c. Cotton and linen can be boiled even. I mean it's of course better than nothing in some circumstances but not as a solution.

Thanks for this review. The wife and I were recently looking at this on Amazon. She wanted something to use for her unmentionables (bras and such) because of her arthritis is making it hard to clean those by hand ( the joys of the 65 + club). Seriously thinking of getting one now. Thank you.

A few years back I came across a video by the late Survival Doc (you know: reminding you to be prepared or be prepared to be fleeced) which featured a restored vintage washing plunger. A week after I saw the video I came across two of these vintage plungers one after the other in the same flea market and bought them both for under 15 bucks... I started using them together with a washing wringer thing, a metal mount for the wringer and some buckets. The washing setup worked great, fast, cheap and gave me a little bit of a workout. I use it at home when the power is out, while camping and sometimes when I am in a time crunch...

I've never tried a contraption like this, but I have traveled all over the world for decades and dealt with laundry in the same way as any experienced traveler. The fact is that laundry only matters for those who travel long enough to exhaust their clean clothes...and that is a very small subset of those who travel. For those who do travel for long stretches and may need to wash the clothes they take, there are many typical tactics to minimize the need for machine washing. The biggest is the avoidance of light-colored and solid-colored clothing. Dark colors and patterned fabrics conceal imperfect washing. Certain natural and synthetic fiber combinations pack thinner, wrinkle less, and air-dry more quickly. Packing dual-use garments cut down the amount of bulk and allow more packing space. They often save dress shirts and blouses for actual meetings or events. Serious travelers do a lot of sink and bathtub clothes washing. They often keep ziplock bags or packets of dry detergent, baking soda, stain remover, etc. in their luggage. (Usually well marked for the inspectors.) Mini versions of these things are often found in convenience stores, or even at hotels. On rare occasions, they will find a laundromat or even use the hotel laundry service. Once you are used to doing this, it pretty much influences how you pack for vacations and pleasure trips. Stupid gadgets like this portable washer are simply gimmicks. Great video!

I 100 % agree. These things are advertised to RV travelers and people who live in places without wash machines. But the fact that they are only good for small items makes them a gemmick. Its super easy to hand wash small items. You just toss them in a sink full of water, add some soap, agitate for 60 seconds and let them sit die 5-10 mins. Then agitate for 2-5 by moving the clothes around and squeezing them. Drain the water, squeeze out some of the water by squeezing the items down into the sink.. Do NOT wring out clothes, it stretches the fabric. Turn the water on with the drain open let water get into the clothes squeeze it out.. Do it a few times. Plug the sink add water, agitate and drain.. Squeeze out access water again and line dry.. Or hang over the shower curtain rod or something. If you live in a house without a washer, get one of those collapsing drying racks and put it in the tub or shower. Done.. All told 15 mins and 8 of actually working. Im looking into living in a van and clean houses for a living... Have to wash my cleaning towels every day. Ain't no way I'm gonna waste money on one of these things or a laundry mat.

I bought a $16 washer motor and use a regular bucket to use it in. It works really well. I use a salad spinner for drying and that works really well too.

I have a hand cranked hand washing 'machine', add clothes, soap, hot water and close it shut, turned for a couple minutes by hand and the pressure built up due to heat and sealing helps draw water and crap out the clothes, had it 20 years now, very handy bit of kit it is too.

@JimNortonsAlcoholism I just did a search online, and there are quite a few good ones. I'm in Australia. Just look at reviews. I look at different sites for reviews to get true reviews. Some look like a large salad spinner or a tub you spin around by handle. Most I saw were on camping store sites.

Just curious, the instructions indicated to use small items (socks, underwear, baby clothes) and while I don't consider a t-shirt a "large" item, perhaps the reason why the spin cycle is all over the place is because the shirt was in there.

I'm curious about long-term term use. I bought one of these, and it worked far better than I expected. Used it a hand full of times and the motor filled with water and quit. Exchanged and had the same issue. Returned and purchased a different and more expensive one, same problem. I love the idea of it, but it seems like protecting the motor is a huge issue.

I use a bigger portable washing machine. It can hold quite a few items of clothing. The spin side has a "lid" that you put on top of the clothes so they don't go flying out while it's spinning. I put it in my bathtub and fill it with a hose shower head. I use hot water to wash and cold water to rinse. It can't do the bed quilt or heavy winter coats is all. Everything else I use it to wash my clothes. I live in an apartment and love my Zeny portable washer. It can hold 11 lbs to wash and 6 lbs to spin.

You are luckier than me. The Zeny is too loud for my neighbor downstairs (my neighbors are tattle-tellers). I have to use The Laundry Alternative washing machine "Drop!" because it's actually quiet.

The equal amounts of detergent ended up being more concentrated in the small unit, explaining why the stains were removed better.

So the portable washer is definitely more economic. You use less water and less energy and less soap. And it takes less time. Clearly using a big washer would be wasteful for just a handful of items.

@@MicukoFelton That wasn't my actual point. The point was that the clothes were cleaner because the detergent to water ratio was higher in the portable washer than the full sized machine. That's why the stain removal was better, not because the machine was better.

I bought mine over a year ago from AliExpress for $40. I use it mainly for items that have to be hand washed because my hands cramp up too much to actually hand wash; my scarves, my personal reusable lady items, etc, this little machine has been good to me.

The rinse cycle did exactly what it was designed to do. The next step in laundry where this product is usually sold would be line drying. It was never designed to compete with a full sized American washing machine. Also, a shirt that size is unlikely to be washed in that particular machine; it is more likely to be hand washed or a larger machine would have been used. In America I would say it's best suited for micro loads of delicates. Our laundry habits really are not compatible for it's design.

I have one with no spin cycle for power outages. I love it. You can get an industrial sized salad spinner to wring the clothes but i just do it by hand. I also have a tub and plunger for larger items. Its good to be prepared. I've been without power for up to a week so to me it's a must!

Thank you for this review. I hand wash my clothes but I don’t feel as confident about my socks and underclothes. I have been looking at small washing machines like this because I live in an apartment and only wash a small amount of clothes, but because the reviews are all over the place it was hard to decide the best thing for me.

I have one similar to this one and it works well for undergarments, dish cloths, and 1-2 adult tshirts or shorts at a time. I think if you're looking to do anything like towels, jeans or blankets, or even laundry on a more regular basis than one small load a day, a portable washer like a twin tub might be better, as they have larger capacities and better spinners. There are also larger single tub machines than this that spin and dry, though typically smaller in capacity than twin tubs.

Just hand wash your under clothes like everything else. Let the clothes soak for 5-10 mins. Add clothes, add water and soap. Agitate by moving and squeezing the clothes making sure soap and water get through all of them. Let soak Come back and agitate for 2-5 mins again in the same way. Drain Squeeze out soapy water by pressing the clothes into the bottom of the sink. Plug the sink. Add like 1/3 to 1/2 the previous amount of water, agitate. Drain. Press out the water and repeat 1-3 more times until there is hardly any soap suds left. Squeeze out the water and hang dry. Tis easy. And if your underwear are getting really spoiled, eat more fiber.. And get a bidet.

The spin basket has to lock in place. You’ll hear it click otherwise, yes it will move and shake as much. I read that on a comment somewhere and once I did that the machine didn’t move so much. It moved just as much as it did for the wash cycle. But your video is pretty neat, and a nice comparison. Better than the other ones I’ve seen so far👍🏾

Having had experience with a small twin tub, the spinner might work better if you divide up the load into two and then spin them dry one half load at a time. Time consuming but if you can’t ring out clothes by hand it’s better than nothing. But $60USD is a bit more than I would be willing to part for this

James, I would consider something like the portable clothes washer to take in my camper. Maybe it does not spin all the water out efficiently but, guess what, I am in possession of the marvelous invention that has been called a "clothes line!" If you did not know (especially with these recourd high temperatures) nature will dry your laundry and you do not need to use an electric dryer. 😊😘👍😏

I really enjoyed watching your scientific testing of the portable washer versus the regular washer. I’ve seen these small washers all over the place online and always wondered how well they worked. Was surprised to see that the mini washer had the same cleaning results as the regular washer. It’s unfortunate, though, that the spin cycle was basically worthless in the smaller washer. Based on your excellent review and demonstration, I have no desire to buy one of these mini washing machines.

The problem with the spin cycle was that you didn't arrange the items correctly. You wring out the majority of the water by hand, which you did correctly, then you arrange the items in the basket with the lightest item at the bottom and heaviest on top, lastly you squeeze down the items in the basket hard. That should balance everything out. Also, I'm fairly sure that machine should have a specific spin cycle setting which is different from the normal wash setting but I'm not sure you were using it. 😅 Still a fair review. 😁👍

Unbalanced loads will wobble. The lack of common sense here was disappointing and frustrating to watch. We have no idea if the spin cycle works or not when the load is arranged properly.

OH STAHP! You're probably correct but if you have to do all that extra for three little light-weight pieces of cloth it's just not worth the effort. I could drop them in my salad spinner which has a larger basket and get a better effect.

@@ricecompelsyou I've seen others review similar machines. The ones I've seen only have a 2 or 3 minute spin cycle but they work as long as the load is balanced correctly. I honestly wouldn't use something like this to wash adult clothes other than underwear and other thin delicates, perhaps socks, but it's great for baby clothes or washcloths, kitchen/tea towels, maybe potholders and cloth aprons. Basically, kitchen or cleaning items that you probably don't want to wash with your regular clothes but would be ridiculous to wash on their own in a big machine. I was tempted to get the TEMU one just for my kitchen towels and potholders but for now I'm still mostly tossing them in with my regular clothes and doing a quick white vinegar wash and then extra clean water rinse by hand afterwards to get rid of any excess fabric softener and/or other contaminates that might be on them. I might give in and get one of these eventually when I have some cash to spare, especially if I can get a good one with a UV light that actually works to disinfect. 😅

This needs to be redesigned in regards to the spin basket, It needs to be larger so you can put clothing in evenly balanced, and it also needs to have a way to hold it onto the spin shaft so it won't fly off. Maybe a cover on top of the basket that fits into a bearing on the lid and the lid has a locking method? Otherwise you're better off to wring them out and hang them up to dry. You should do a redesign...

I used it for my 3 week trip on a cruise ship. The rooms were so dry that I just dripped dried for a hour or two . Squeezed the ends and hung up on a line I hung in room. Dried almost by overnight. Worked well for me!

It's more of a salad spinner for clothes. The concept of a foldable portable is great, but, it makes no sense on the"hand wringing". More of a novelty at this point, thanks for the review on it.

I use a MOYU brand similar to this, it holds about 10L of water with a stronger 60w motor, these little machines work very well. I use it in my campervan on longer trips and use a hand crank double roller wringer to squeeze the water out of the clothes (it's very effective, better than your home washers spin cycle). We use about a tablespoon of liquid detergent for a full load, then double rinse. The secret to using the spin cycle on these little machines is to not overload the little basket, just put a little at a time in the basket and try to balance it out when it starts wobbling.

It might be okay for people with dexterity issues or people with easily irritable skin and with limited space, but otherwise it is just better to wash by hand. I wish people would learn that these are waste for most of them.

Interesting! Thanks! This might be a bit tangential, but as it might help someone save their clothing, I’ll toss it in anyway: if you end up with a stain from either food/drink or blood/other something body-related, try wetting it in the sink, covering the stain with dish soap and then, taking the stained area between your hands, rub the soapy, stained fabric against itself hard. You want strong fabric against fabric action here. The dish soap attacks the proteins in the stain, and that combined with the rubbing might work the stain either completely out or nearly out all by itself. Rub for maybe a minute, check, rub, check, etc. until the stain’s as faint as you can get it. Rinse the item free of soap and then either machine wash it as soon as you can or wash it the way you typically do your laundry as soon as you can. It’s not guaranteed to work, but it’s better than doing nothing. Remember: before pre-treating, washing or drying clothes, always check the washing instructions label to prevent accidental damage. This method might not work on everything and might even damage some fabrics. Nevertheless, I think it’s a good one to have in your cleaning arsenal. I’ve saved some favorite t-shirts this way.

I guessed you have to read the instruction properly. The washing mode and the spinning mode is different. The spinning mode only spin in one direction. You were at the washing mode when you are spinning, Thus the spin alternate at interval. On top of that, you need to press down and lock the spinning basket. However nice demo.

The spin cycle is useless, but although hand washing clothes is a pain, hang drying clothes is easy. So it does the hard part relatively well, but it's bad at the easy part? Sounds like a win to me, especially at that price. Definitely designed for a single person with limited resources, but it looks good for it's intended purpose.

I have had 2 different portable washers in the past, not this one. The drying part, you have to have a balanced load and you have to know how to do it. The instant you feel it rocking, it's wrong. Turn it off and try reloading again. It should just spin smoothly. Put one item on one side, one item on the other, repeat. Also, there is also supposed to be a cover to keep things from flying out. If this doesn't have that, then I think it would not be very good product. Also, i never wrung out the clothes much, the weight of the water helped it work better to be honest.

Own one (smaller model with no drain port). Good if you're washing 1 or 2 shirts or anything smaller. Struggle with single pants, unless it's thin. Spin dry a bit tricky, recommend you roll/fold & try keep as balance as possible. Mine comes with a washboard lid for scrubbing. My advise, get the one with drain port because it can get annoying to pour out the water.

If all that you need to wash is 1 sock, 1 wash cloth, and 1 shirt - do it by hand and buy some clothes pins to hang dry. Hell of a lot easier, faster, and you can actually scrub at a stain as needed.

actually not bad, it could be handy and useful to wash dirty micro-fibre cloths. Otherwise its a bad idea to put them on a full-size wm alone or with other clothes. Of course this is a regular home use scenario. Certainly handy for RV and other portable situations

I think there is a reason why, most of them go with the none portable type, and went with the different version size that can easily slip into a space under the counter as a washer/dryer. (Twice as long to get through one load) And most people buy the dual version that has a washer and dryer, that is smaller than the average washer and dryers nowadays.

I bought one of those years ago when I lived in a cottage with no washer or dryer. It worked pretty well, got clothes clean and the spin side got the clothes 85% dry. It was a lifesaver at the time. Don't miss having to use it though.

@@Jehty_ water/motor oil mix i’m not sure, i’ve never had to deal with that. Most likely bring it to a hazmat disposal site. Many have days where they take household waste. For the paint water I have a kit that chemically separates the pigments from the water using garden soil additives. then you run it through a jumbo coffee filter in a strainer. The water afterwards is safe to dump. The pigments in the coffee filter you can save to make your own paint (it will be some shade of gray), or collected for hazmat.

i got one of these a while back because it was on sale and i thought if it could help me save $20-30 i spend on the washing mecheins in my apartment i might as well try. the spin basket isnt great at all but if you only do it for 1 minute at a time ive had better luck with it, however you still have to hold it. but to wash one or two things and not have to pay really pay to wash is very much worth it.

I'd rather get a real portable washing machine that just hooks up to your sink. That's what I bought when I lived in an apartment, and it saved me a lot of money. This thing only washes a few articles of clothing that you could literally hand wash in less time. This seems like a complete waste of money/electricity.

I wonder what would happen if you sat it on a non skid shelf line. I wonder if it is spinning hard enough to throw it off of that. I’ve had good luck with those stabilizing things. Someone should invent one that is attached to a pedal bike. You go at one rate for the wash and get up to another for the spin. Exercise while doing the laundry and saving a little electricity. Edit: somebody already did 😉

Thank you for this review. As it happens, I was looking at this via some shopping listicle (can't remember which one) because I am interested in being able to wash certain individual items without using a (paid) laundry load. The cleaning cycle looks great to me. However, I need to have the clothes spun dry if I want to hang dry them without dripping. Don't have much patience for things that seem to try to self-destruct. So this doesn't work for me. I'll keep looking.

So, to wash only a few things, you spend 30 minutes total with this thing. Washing them in the shower or agitating them in a bucket with either your hands, feet, or a type of plunger with aerator holes would be quicker and allow you to do more items at once. Thank you for the review; certainly you’ve saved some people money on this and other items you review.

The 5 gallon bucket and the washer wand...... that's a STAPLE. Everyone should have that for emergency back-up. Take an agitator from a small washer, attach to a board, put upside down into 5 gallon bucket...... with the right soap, you got a nice system to wash an entire outfit. Cheap, efficient, and works well.

The problem is you did not read the manual's instruction. I have the same portable mini washing machine as you. 1 minute is meant for drying your clothes and 5/10 minutes for washing the clothes. Of course it will shake like that while you dry it because you put it in a 5-10 minute dry when it is not supposed to be like that.

I got one similar to this one you are reviewing and it works pretty well being so small the only down fall is the spinner is kinda slow and isnt that balance its a balancing act trying to get it just right where it wont spin out of control i found it best way is to run it twice to get a little more .

I got mine a month ago and I love it. I hand-wash a lot of stuff and this is the perfect alternative. I wear medical compression thighs, and you HAVE to hand-wash those because the washing mashine will ruine them. Also good for things like lacy bras, swimsuits and blood-stained panties. Don't need to wait days to put together a load, just pull out that bad boy and chuck them in.

I bought mine on Temu for 11bucks! On flash sale! They go far around 30 bucks regularly on Temu! I love mine! I use to mainly wash shocks and underwear and a occasional shirt! I don't use the spin dry with the basket I do it without it! And it works pretty good getting the water out!

I have a friend who uses dish clothes for cleaning the kitchen, doing dishes etc. I'm wondering if something like this would allow him to wash those & get them dry enough they will dry quickly enough to use without going musty like they currently do. Otherwise while he can literally go next door it takes actual quarters & his friends bank only lets her get $20 at a time. I can do more but it's a long bus ride for me. I told him about the Temu one but I thought it might not be worth it at $30. But if I could get it for under $15 it might be. I said I'd look for reviews then this came up.

What you experienced is called excess harmonic distortion and it's fairly common with centrifuges which have an improperly weight-distributed basket. 1) ensure that the basket is equally weighted on both sides. One sock on left? well, put one on right too. Always ensure that the way the basket is loaded will ensure the weight is distributed evenly. 2) centrifuges are generally meant to be operated either bolted into the foundation, or with enough counter-weight to displace the load amount. In the case of your centrifuge being extremely light, the amount of clothing loaded into it is a large % of the unit's weight, adding to the chaos - this is one situation where it might be beneficial to add some sort of weight to the top of the unit, or to have it bolt into some sturdy fixture.

I used mine for my masks and small accessories for machines that is too small for a full load. Mine said that there was 2 wash settings (5/10 min) and one "dry" setting (3min). Did you attached the hose? I'm curiouse that the instruction said.

I have one that doesn't use electricity, that you just lazily turn a handle for 3 minutes. Then wait 15 minutes, then another 3 minutes of winding, and that's it. I have only used it a couple of times, to see if it works, and it does. So now I have it as backup for when we eventually get electricity cuts due to climate change!

I just use a bucket with some woolite hand washing detergent. Put it in the bucket and swish it around with my hand and whala it's clean. I don't even know how much it costs, because I bought the bucket for something else.

Washboards are good and get the job done for sure but they wear out your clothes 3x as fast as they would deteriorate under regular use. This would be ok for underwear, dish cloths and socks I guess, just have to wring out by hand?
