I could watch the 1st 7 seconds of this videos for like infinity 😂 absolutely effortless yet powerful swing. There something to be learned from Freddie’s swing, especially the way he drives his legs thru and clears his hips.

My all time favorite player. Loved to just watch his swing. At times I have tried to copy his swing and to this day, I think I still have what I've learned from watching him.

I have watched him since his first year on the tour and followed Fred a few times at the Buick Open in Grand Blanc Mi. For me, Fred's swing has always told me how his back was feeling at the time. How he has carried himself on and off the course and how much fun he was to play with. His temperament. Class Act

I have always had trouble with getting too fast with my upper body and hands. It really helps me to do the "pause" at top of swing allowing my lower body to initiate the completion of the swing after the pause. This method is the only I have found to get better tempo and eliminate "throwing" the club.

What is amazing to me is how smooth he looks in real time and then when you look at his feet in slowmo he gets airborne through impact. Crazy good footwork.

I sadly didn't appreciate golf in my youth like I do now, but when it was on, and you were playing, I was enjoying it. Thank you sir for the memories! And thank God for things like KZfaq so I can go back, and watch those classic matches with a more appreciative eye.

Absolutely love this guy. The ONLY time I ever watched live golf was when he played skins in South Africa, on the KZN South Coast, way back in the 80s. I was absolutely blown away by how effortlessly he could hit it a mile. Such a shame about his back. With so much natural talent, he could have been one of the greats.

Greatest looking golf swing I've ever seen the tempo the timing he keeps his height so well there isn't alot going on either its so simple he just picks it up drops it inside and drives through but that tempo and rhythm can't be taught that's Freddies natural finesse

As A fellow Seattleight I began golfing as a 19 year old in 1983 and I always watched Freddie and I truly tried to emulate his tempo and swing path (maybe is why I have had back issues too?) Hall of fame player!

The two most underrated Fred Couples facts that I didn't know: huge calves, and the man doesn't hold a grudge. To say he admired Tom Weiskopf, wow. Weiskopf totally insulted Couples on Golf Digest back in the 90s, and later apologized for this. Obviously, apology accepted, with no hard feelings. With Couples, the Legend just continuous.

Every time I swing my driver I think of Fred Couples. Rhythm and tempo is everything.

Golfers know how hard it is to make it look this easy. The grip pressure, balance, tempo, timing, power, syncing arm and body- all working in unison. Very rare ability.

I know this is three years later but there just isn’t a more beautiful swing than Fred Couples’. I find it interesting that he said Tom Weiskopf’s was his favourite swing, as it was always mine, when I was playing off 8 handicap at age 15 (I’m the same age as Freddie). I always tried to copy Tom Weiskpf’s swing when young but as I got older that would hurt my back. Now i have much more of a Freddie swing and it suits me fine. No back injuries! I’m not playing off single figure handicap anymore but that’s down to a career getting in the way and keeping me away from golf for 38 years! Freddie is loved by everyone because he is a genuine nice guy, a gentleman and still a great golfer. I love watching him. Thank you for posting. Very interesting video.

Freddy is a legend

Freddy is one of the best golfers ever. Silky smooth swing, and great attitude. He will always be my favorite golfer. P.S. he doesn't wear a glove neither do I

When Freddie was talking about Jack Nicklaus's famous 1 iron shot at the 1972 U.S. Open at the 17 th hole in the final round, Jack said he felt that when he took the club back that he hooded the the face, and made a compensation on his downswing, and the ball hit the flag stick and finished a foot from the hole.

Pretty much everything about Freddy is a pleasure to watch.. So cool of a guy..

I tried for years to mimic Fred's swing, best 'longevity' swing there is, but if you can't get those arms up 90 degrees vertical every time, forget it.

My all time favorite golfer

Freddy has been one of my favorite golfers my whole life. He is like Mr. Consistency. Not gonna dominate like Tiger (of old) but consistently finds himself towards the top... even as he got older. What a great guy. My 6 yo son who is a natural at golf, I'm going to steer towards studying Freddy's swing... and maybe cross breed it with a bit of John Daly too. ;)

I have always liked his swing well orthodox type in fluid all the way through I tried to mimic that swing and my delight is on the swing only not hitting the ball but with practice maybe GO Freddy!! my favorite

Fred Couples and Ernie Els .... 2 of the best in my book

I am only 5'4" and I have a very steep backswing like Fred. People are always telling me to shallow it out. But I generate a lot of swing speed through the ball, and I get a high launch angle into the greens. But like Fred I was also blessed with wide shoulders, and a narrow hips. This might not seem like a big deal....but it helps generate power, and I consistently out drive my 6 foot tall buddies who think I just muscle it.

I've always noticed how quiet Freddy's core and legs are during the first half of his backswing.It's as if he is just picking the club up with his arms and hands and then a little past halfway he really starts to turn and engage with the rest of his body.

As a teenager Freddy won the Washington State Open bare handed and wearing Converse All Stars as his budget did not include golf gloves or golf shoes. By the way he was one of the few pros who never wore a glove.

It's been said that Fred is double-jointed and can literally turn his body further than most people. It's also helpful to be a naturally gifted athlete who probably has golf instincts that most others don't. Freddie is a great guy, too. He's given us decades of fantastic golf.

If there's anyone who is basically an Easy Chair who can swing a golf club, it's Fred. Fluid and relaxed. I remember hearing this story where the announcers said to him 'Do you realize that you ALWAYS hit the center of the clubface ... ALWAYS'. He said 'No, I didn't know that'. Wow, what a state of mind. About Jack's 1-iron, he said in the middle of his swing, he felt the wind change direction so he adjusted his swing to compensate on the way down (fade or draw I can't remember which).

I always struggle at the top, I get too fast like my hips move before I’m finished with my back swing. I always gotta think pause I’m my head

Such a class act, one of the best yet lazy looking swings but so good to watch over the years. One of those players where watching every shot including putts is an education and makes for great viewing.

I can’t hold a candle to his swing, but I do know the feeling at the beginning of the downswing that something bad(or good)is about to happen. Fred is my all time favorite golfer....by miles.
