The highest-rated half-hour series in NBC history at the time, Sanford and Son stars Redd Foxx as the cantankerous sexagenarian Fred Sanford and Demond Wilson as his son Lamont, also his business partner in the family junk-dealing business. To prevent his son from leaving home, and bent on having things his own way in general, Fred often calls upon such ruses as fake heart attacks or phony back ailments. Lamont usually sees through these subterfuges, but because he loves his father, he lets him think he's getting his way.

If you watch her closely when Fred is introduced to the old man and he says, hello Noble, she is doing everything possible to keep from bursting out laughing.. I have the set and binge watch them a lot and still laugh out loud.

I wish I could read that Redd Foxx made a million dollars an episode . Come to think of it, his work was priceless . I had jury duty a few years ago and in the interview for final selection the judge asked me if I watched television. I told him the last show I considered “ can’t miss” was Sanford and Son. I said judge , have you heard of that show. He said in front of the entire court( with reporter present) , “ that was a very good show” I was selected and became jury foreman. I can’t make up a story like this. Sanford was the best !

He wasn’t. 😚. That was the main reason he quit. He made I think 20k an episode while Archie Bunker made 100k in the same period. That was Redd Fox’s problem. Sanford was as popular and appealed to all races and yet he was paid far less.

It is very political. I believe this episode, while very funny, was dealing with the idea of gentrification in Los Angeles and other major cities in the US where rich folks were buying up the historically Black neighborhoods. Comedy back then was political, but politics were different.

@Dick Lewis I agree. It depends. Chinese and Korean women are not attractive to me at all. Japanese, Vietnamese, Thailand , Singapore and Philippine women definitely have some rock stars.
