Freddie Gibbs sits down with Peter Rosenberg on the latest episode of Real Late! During the conversation Madlib surprised Rosenberg as he showed up for his FIRST radio interview ever.
Gibbs gets emotional as he recalls his time in jail in France and Austria in 2014/2015 after being held on charges that he sexually assaulted. He was acquitted of those charges. He also addressed A$AP Rocky's situation.
Producer Madlib speaks about working with Kanye West, Dilla's legacy, and much more!
Their collaborative album "Bandana" is available now!

Gibbs is shedding all the layers of what Black men in America go through for generations. The magic in his music is his humbleness as a man and as an artist. Support this man's movement!! Kanye's 7 song theory was ingenious but he missed the mark by not including artists like Freddie Gibbs to that concept but Madlib is a LEGEND in his own right. Peace be upon both of these men...

Peter looked like a child that found out his dad is black and only celebrates Kwanzaa. This has to be about the best interview in some time. Freddie Gibbs makes people look very dumb for touching the same microphone, had a come down moment from a good time and thought about his life from where he was to where he is now. Always been skilled. Also an independent artist. It's good to see Freddie Gibbs actually take a moment and look at the changes and it be him that they catch in that moment. Much Respect.

Donovan Jones Chainz’s album was good. Probably his best, but he doesn’t rap on Freddie’s level and the production wasn’t as interesting and dope to me as the Madlib beats. Plugs I’ve Met is fire but too short to compare. An EP compared to an album is not fair to the EP. If Tana Talk 3 released this year, I’d might agree Crash Talk? Hell no. And I love ScHoolboy Q. Been a fan since Setbacks. Blank Face was a lot better than Crash Talk. It was a disappointment to me. It’s not a bad album either. I just expected more coming off of his best album. And Q is not rapping on Freddie’s level and Madlib’s production is better.

My favorite rapper of this generation and I have NEVER seen him get emotional. This is dope and he deserves all the success because I've seen his grind, his plights, his rise, the progression in his music from 2009 to now etc etc. I love you brother and may your music continue to thrive 💪🏾

Gangsta Gibbs. One of my heroes. Im a metalhead, but i started listening to Gibbs when i was around 16/17 years old. I heard his 93 till infinity freestyle after a friend of mine told me about him. I was amazed. After that BFK was my favorite album for many years. Gibbs is an incredible musician, and keeps on delivering awesome music. I drove to Denmark with my older brother to see Gibbs perform live about 5/6 years ago and it was a fucking awesome show. The border patrol smelled the weed on my car on the way home, but i got away clean.

Especially with their creative results thus far. Glad this generation gets to show well deserved appreciation to Madlib. As well as Freddie getting the accolades that have eluded him. I followed Madlib religiously over the years. I dived deep into his multi genre production too. He is one of the biggest inspirations for me and my own musical journey. To see this man in this interview with Freddie Gibbs and actually speaking openly is crazy. From seeing him on his Brazilian trip and Yesterdays New Quintet, Stones Throw documentaries etc. This was a surprising and excellent interview. He's come a long way and he is in his own universe from another plane. Otis is a true legend and master of our time. The legit Sun Ra of our time.

Shout out to Gibbs and Madlib for making true classic...one for the ages, and thank you Freddy for the snapshot into your past. When you listen to the album you can immediately relate to it, but at the same time recognize the pure genius of of the Gibbs/Madlib connection. I love the tiny desk performance for me it just elevates the album of what it can be when performed live....with a band like that.
