I have been a Queen fan for decades and decades, I have heard that song many many times but that is the first time I have ever seen the translation to English. I always loved it just for the beauty in it. Thank you for your reactions.

You really should listen to Freddie Mercury "Exercises In Free Love" because it is Freddie singing Montserrat's part of this song to send it to her for her approval to continue with building the song. Montserrat was touring and also lived in Spain so she was not in the same place as Freddie which is why he would send her music to get her thoughts on it. She loved it even though at the time there were not yet lyrics. Freddie singing these high notes gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

Freddie gave us everything he had and his reward was to live his dream, of not only achieving pop/rock star status but, also, performing Opera. He expressed his admiration in interviews for Monserrat many years prior to their collaboration

Thanks, Mann! Just one of the many amazing collabs with Freddie & Montserrat... where he sings LOW... so surprising, right?? (it's been said that his natural speaking and singing voice were actually "baritone"... but obviously, his range was extraordinary) He originally wrote this melody as "Exercises in Free Love".. which was wordless, and featured Freddie singing the high opera part.. which he conveyed to Montsy to show her what SHE would be singing... check this out.. it will blow you away... (sorry for "commercials" - but YES.. this is Freddie singing the whole thing...) appreciate your reactions!

Everyone always mentions in comments Freddie's unique and wonderful talents as a vocalist and rock front man for Queen but rarely give tribute to his excellent gifts as a composer, song writer and musician.

It was the only one song when Freddie and Montserrat were recording in the same studio and sang into the same microphone, but Freddie's voice was so powerful that he had to step back some small steps from there. He gave the demo Exercises in Free Love to Montserrat as a present and asked her to write her own lyrics to the music and the became the Ensueno. Freddie spoke only English, but he was ready to learn some in foreign languages written lyrics, like this Spanish, La Japonaise and Teo Torriatte in Japanese and he always took the trouble to greet the audiences in different languages.

REQUEST!! Now that you’ve heard “Ensueno”, can you PLEASE react to: “EXERCISES IN FREE LOVE” This is the original demo that “Ensueno” was ultimately based on… When Freddie & Montserrat (Montsey) were scheduled to meet for the first time, Freddie recorded the demo of himself SINGING THE SOPRANO PART, so Montsey would have an idea of the sound Freddie was going for. NOTE: There are TWO versions of “Exercises In Free Love”: The 1987 ORIGINAL demo (which is mostly just piano accompanying Freddie) and a later posthumous version that has an orchestra backing added…. The ORIGINAL 1987 DEMO IS SO MUCH BETTER! (You can hear Freddie’s vocals more clearly than in the remix.)
