@@Ali.Shlaibeq she gave a concert but was kind of sick :-( after 10 mins there was a aprupt break. 20 mins later she went on stage again and ... you could see, that she was not in mood. three songs later the show was over. it was too much for her :-( as my stepdad was a kind of janitor / housekeeper or whatever the word is, they gave me the "golden book" to let her sign. so i went upstairs in the townhall and went in her room. she signed the book and a poster for me ... i've met a lot of stars, but this three minutes with her were just incredible!!! as i said - a met a lot of stars, but she was outstanding!!! ♥

I'm so touched by your reaction, L. Freddie & Montserrat (or Montsy, as he called her) adored each other & were in awe of each other's talent. She was amazed how he, being a natural baritone, could glide effortlessly between that and his tenor voice..and also his composing ability. They quickly became close & he even confided in her about his illness. She attended the unveiling of his statue in Montreaux, Switzerland with his family, and was moved to tears. I'm posting this 3 min. video of the event for anyone who'd like to see it. It also shows Brian explaining why the statue is there. L, being as you enjoyed their work together I hope you watch this..every Queen fan should see it.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iN6nlrmpnbSne30.html Montserrat passed away in October. I hope they're making beautiful music together on the other side.

Deborah Cornell - I also wish to thank you for the video. I had never seen it either. It was so touching to see Freddie's mother, father and Montserrat consoling each other. Brian seemed close to tears when he said the view of the lake from his home was his favorite and now he can look out on it forever. So sad that London did not allow a statue. The inscription on the statue sums his life up so succinctly....Lover of Life, Singer of Songs. Thanks again.

You know someone recently described Freddie perfectly, for those that grew up on his songs, and even those that are just now starting down his path. I've always said he had a divine presence, you just were in awe watching him, and then someone said, "After Freddie's death, he left us craving his love and his music" And it was the word "love" that popped out for me, they hit the nail on the head, he radiated love through his songs, no matter what genre he was singing, he just oozed love out to his fans. I think even if Freddie didn't get paid, he would still sing for an audience with the same amount of love and passion, that I think (along with his incredible voice) made him stand out from the others and to this day, still does. We crave Freddie....lol

Because in the world of fast canned sound, and mediocre flash in the pan stardom, this type of True talent and uniqueness simply doesn't exist . When we hear it thru his recordings and videos it fills a small gap in our musical beings that craves greatness , and un-autotuned reality

This is a beautiful story of friendship, respect, creativity and the most finest and astonished music !!! Freddie and Montsy dared to go beyond the boundaries and achieve an incredible music and an incredible historical milestone in music 🎼 🎵 🎶. It was also the time when Freddie knew about his illness ... and he told Monserrat about it. Monserrat said, later in an interview: "While he was singing I noticed that his eyes were shiny with tears. I give him my hand. He clasped it and kissed it. It was clear he was suddenly aware of his own fate. They were tears of farewell. It was his goodbye , at least to the stage ". Montserrat Caballé

In an interview Freddie said he was worried that he might go stomping across the stage like he usually does when he feels the music but his friend told him not to worry and just tone it down a bit lol. You can see Freddie in one part where he nearly goes forward taking Monsterrat with him but he stops himself. So singing and thinking about what his body is doing as well makes this so perfect.

I read from another comment elsewhere that Freddie was worried his stage personality would overshadow her. And a friend told him that, hey, she's an operatic soprano, a Prima Donna (I think she was called La Magnifica); and most likely _he_ would have to step it up a bit! :-D :-)

I think besides being a useful prop, Freddie’s mic stand gave him something to do with his hands. Without it his arms are flying all over the place- which is adorable and endearing anyway, but I think he was aware of it. Even in the “making of” video of the “These are the Days of Our Lives” video, Freddie criticized his performance by saying “I did too many movements.” He tends to, without that mic stand to occupy his hands. But it’s cute, and I love him no matter what!

I know you wish you had lived his journey with us long-time fans...I’m comforted in knowing that it spared you the heartbreak and utter disbelief of the day he passed. That was a day I’ll never get over. I cried until my jaw actually hurt. Everyone around me did the same (music fans). There’s nothing like feeling that vibrant life leave this world. I liken it to losing a color you’ve always loved. It was like losing a lifelong friend. I’m so thrilled that Queen and Freddie have been seemingly brought back to life hopefully to never be forgotten. I was born in 1971 so Queen had been there my whole life, and is here still. I love your honesty during your reactions. I truly appreciate your discovery of Queen. I think it’s cool that you’re enjoying the live performances! You’re seeing a band who did it all themselves. Oh! I am so happy you reacted to this song! Freddie & Montserrat collaborated on an entire album & developed a deep friendship & love that lasted until his death ( she died a couple months ago). The very next song you need to listen to is "The Golden Boy" - now we're at rock + opera + GOSPEL!! It would be helpful to familiarize yourself with the lyrics for the story, but watch the live performance for the absolute joy emanating from Montserrat!! She said performing opera is like fitting yourself seamlessly into a painting created by someone else - but Freddie opened a window into the world of creativity that she had not known before. btw I am seriously loving your channel! Wishing you & your family much holiday joy! And I just have to say I am still laughing out loud at the thought of Freddie showing up to an opera performance with his half-stand mike! :)

Few years ago Montserrat Caballe was in Russia. When she was asked about this cooperation with Freddie she said that she was amazed by his beautiful operatic singing. So she asked him why he is still "screaming" at the stage. Freddie Mercury answered that his fans wouldn't recognize him if he'll change the style. He used to bring ballet to the masses. And here also he wanted us to find out the harmony between rock and opera. At the end Montserrat said that he is in heaven now and soon she'll meet him. She died in a few months. Thanks for your reactions. I really love this channel more and more! OKAY! Order in the classroom and I'll keep it clean and dry this time 😊 First off, "L" - sincerely L.O.V.E your reactions and new found awe for Queen and this absolute genious of a Man. When you left your seat I broke 😂 And you are right, it really *can't* be explained in words, one just have to experience it and let it hit you with all sorts of magnificent feels that it does! And if it doesn't, you are dead inside (like the 1 dislike person! 😝 ) I mean _come on_ even the goosebumps get goosebumps to Barcelona!! As many already have commented, "Montsy" recently passed away and the first thing that came to mind hearing the sad news, was a line from the lyrics; "And if God willing we will meet again someday". I would hope to think they now met again. Forever. ☁️🎶☁️

If I recall he only performed it twice. It’s considered a very difficult piece and only a couple other male opera singers have attempted it as almost no one has a 4 octave range like Freddie.

My biggest wish is that I would have known in my late teenage years (late 80s) that I would adore Freddie in my 40s. I would have made sure that I would have seen him live. It truly hurts my heart. I too feel blessed that these recordings exist. My favorite is Live Aid and I watch it at least 2 or 3 times a week.
