There has never been a time that my eyes haven't cried whenever I hear Freddie sing this one, but I keep listening because I love it and Freddie 👑🥀 Freddie was Bisexual because he was in love with Mary Austin his entire life, but also had short and long relationships with several men. This was Freddie’s greatest gift. Conveying a songs emotion regardless of who wrote the words. Freddie can make you feel anything & everything. Brian has a soft, warm voice and he delivers a raw performance. Brian said in an interview that as a songwriter you wrote for other people to sing your songs. He knew he was lucky to have Freddie give his words life.

Brian wrote this about the breakup of his marriage. In hindsight with what happened the lyrics fit Freddie and he always made everything he sang-his own.

Watching Freddie in all his moods while listening to his fabulous voice is hard to hold back your emotions. Just let it loose. It really fits both of them because Brian has and still has bouts of depression. He lost his marriage, Freddievand his father all in a few years.

Both Freddie & Brian do justice to Brian's song. Freddie doesn't stray or adlib too much in this one. Let's one feel the pain of the words. Of course Freddie has a fuller, richer voice than Brian. And it's quite beautiful and quite sad. That said, I lean towards Brian's because it's not the full QUEEN sound.

Brian's version is more intimate, because it was written about HIS feelings, but I prefer Freddie's version. Freddie was able to adapt anybody's lyrics, to fill them up with his own emotions. I like when somebody can sing "big" and Freddie's voice is soaring up to skies. Brian's and Freddie's personalities were very different, Freddie was a fighter and it shines through here too.

I love Freddie and he does an excellent job with this song but truly, this is Brian's song. Brian sings the song from his heart and with all the pain that he was feeling at the time these things were happening in his life. Brian's divorce gutted him, and you can hear it in his voice while he is singing. When Freddie sings this song people somehow associate it with his HIV diagnosis, which is simply not the case. Freddie could be considered as bisexual but at some point, he realized that he couldn't live a double life and chose to only have male partners. On many occasions, he told his male partners that he could never feel about a man like he felt about Mary. He also said that it was very hard to have real friends and lovers in his life because of his fame and job and he would say sometimes he had no one but Mary, but that that was enough. Needless to say, this never set well with his partners who did not like that they would never be to Freddie what Mary was, but if they were going to love Freddie, they would have to accept that. Freddie referred to Mary as his common law wife but there are many who say she was just his beard, a way for him to hide his sexuality. The thing is, Freddie didn't hide his sexuality, but he also didn't advertise it. He felt his personal life was nobody's business so for the most part he didn't discuss it.

It's been said that Freddie was emotionally drawn to women but sexually drawn to men. He was engaged to Mary Austin beginning when she was 18 & he was 24. They were engaged for several years until he told her he was attracted to men. But he always said she was the love of his life (hence the song) & that he'd love her "until I draw my last breath." They remained close throughout his life & he left her the bulk of his estate. She lives in his house to this day.

Freddie loved women and men, he started out with women as a young man to meet the expectations of his parents and of the times. As he grew older he realized his attraction to men and came out totally as gay.

I absolutely refuse to choose 😂✌🏼 But … if I was forced by a firing squad to choose it would be Freddie 🥹 My reasoning is that Brian had a sadly terrible heart breaking choice to make …… BUT Freddie’s whole life was an agonizing confusing denial of his feelings that he knew would hurt his whole family and he always was that little 8 year old boy sent away from his family … alone … to an unknown foreign land to fend for himself with no mother to hold him …… almost crying as I write this Oliver Twist- esque story 😢 Anyway …… Freddie rules my broken heart.

Just watched a video. There was two women particular Mary. And Freddie was deeply emotional. Loved women but like guys sexually got his true love from Mary. The guys used to asked why never could get over here and he said Mary was the dearest and considered her his wife. As said no one could take Mary’s place. Watch Mary and Freddie documentary. You have to see the making of one vision. (Not the extended version) and there is another. But listen to this one first. After awhile Freddie stopped taking his medicine. From what I’ve heard, breaks my heart. Six months later there was a treatment to control the pneumonia and posibly Buy some time with less pain.

Try Mother Love written by Brian too, but also freddies last song he attempted as being seriously ill doing what he could, had to leave and come back to finish the last verse but never returned pasing away months later. Brian had to do the last verse to to finish the album Made in heaven in 1995.....oh and you have a another subscriber

I think most people prefers Brian's version. He genuinely delivers the sadness he meant to deliver through this song. But Queen's version is 10x more powerful, however not as touching as Brian's.

Yes Freddie was a fighter - and colors this song with his emotions - but it is Brian's song and it is so painful just see his eyes. It breaks MY heart. Brian got a depression and contemplated suicide - everything was meningless. Meeting and falling in love with a soulmate - and having to break up with his wife and leaving his 3 children - also having lost his father. Too much love.

Sorry but I prefer Brian’s version as it’s about his life & pain & anguish he was going through at the time you can hear it in his voice he was in a very depressed state & at one point contemplated taking his life so glad he didn’t & he’s still here with us x
