If i remember correctly the explanation for why he is afraid of water in this and not other movies is because when he is in the dream world it brings out the fear he had as a child when he drowned. When he is awake he isn't effected by his fear or it is buried.

I think the reason they show Jason afraid of water is because Freddy attacks children. Jason reverted back to his childhood fear while in Freddy's dream world.

Jason died by drowning as a child so it's not hard to believe the child in him would be afraid of water even if the man and the killer he evolves into, isn't. It also shows Freddy's predatory nature towards children and how he manipulates his dream world to feed on the fear of children. I know some people disagree but I think it's clever.

Then everyone spoke up about how he's spent more time in water than a fish and the head of the table said screw it, it's the best we got.

@@tapoemt3995 Because he's already dead. But again, Jason was killed in water, so it's not uncommon for the character to be afraid of what kills them, like Freddy and fire. It's psychological common sense, get some.

Jason was in a nightmare, that is why the fear took him over. Freddy doesn't just outright kill people because he like 'IT' feeds on fear, plus he just has fun doing what he does. Also Freddy did know martial arts in the movies, he is basically master of the matrix, he does what he wants.

My Uncle Robbie took me to see this gnarly piece of art in 2003 at the Palace in downtown Windsor, Ontario, Canada (Detroit's neighbor) on opening weekend. I was 11 years old, and after weeks begging him before it was released to take me, he begrudgingly gave in. It was one of the best times of my life as a film lover. All he asked was to not tell my folks he took me to see it, and I never did 😂

There are sequels...but only in comic book form. Freddy vs Jason vs Ash (from Evil Dead). There's actually three more Jason "movies". They're fan films, but very well done. They even include some returning cast members from Part VI: Jason Lives. "Never Hike Alone", "Never Hike in the Snow", and "Never Hike Alone 2". They're on KZfaq, absolutely free.

I really wish they would have made it *Friday The 13th: A Nightmare In Haddonfield* and pit the three "Godfathers of Slash" against each other! They already had the perfect layout with the psych hospital, and as Freddy said: "EVERY town has an Elm Street"! Seriously, how do you leave out the true OG!? Probably legal 🐂 💩

There was a plan in place for an end credits scene featuring Pinhead from the Hellraiser series. The ending would show Jason and Freddy fighting in Hell, when a giant puzzle box would appear and Pinhead would exit from it saying, "Gentlemen. What appears to be the problem?" They had it storyboarded and everything. However, they couldn't get the rights to the Hellraiser characters.

Saw this in theaters on opening night in a small town. Wore my Jason mask with a t-shirt that said ‘Fred’ from the Fred Store.. They gave us a button and some other swag (and this was at a small town theater). Basically, this was a big deal when it came out. :) …. Also, huge laugh when the “what’s up, lesbos” cop actor showed up

The third or fourth time I watched this I realized Brendan Fletcher who played Mark also played Grady in Werewolf of Fever Swamp, my favorite Goosebumps episode and I went down the this rabbit hole of just watching anything he's in. He was more recently Krampus in Violent Night.

This movie is a perfect example of what happens when big fans of franchises actually get the chance to make their dream movie. And it was AWESOME! I loved this movie in the theater and till this day. It's goofy, cheesy, corny and funny! It even has a couple of spooky/startling moments. The perfect Freddie vs. Jason homage to the franchises and fans.

Just cause your scared of something doesn't mean you're paralyzed by that fear, Jason powered through it. Freddy does however have the power to amplify that fear to be paralyzing. Heck even Batman is scared of bats, he learned to overcome it.

Freddy is attacking Jason's subconscious - he is materializing his fears that were suppressed in the dreams. No different than how we can function under many circumstances but the right stimuli can trigger an adverse effect that we yet to experience. Like if certain movies trigger emotions that normally one wouldn't react to but the right formula in that movie or phrase takes the person temporarily out. SUPERNATURAL PTSD is a bitch.

The director of that movie stated that Jason 'reverting' back to childhood form was the main girl's imagination lmao. She's seen child Jason the whole movie and learning that made me respect Part 8 SO MUCH MORE. It was just her hallucination. Hard to believe people would actually believe Jason has magic powers to revert him back to being a child then back to adult Jason a sequel later with the mask literally stuck to his face thanks to the toxic waste.

I would love to see you react to the Hatchet series or "The final girls" 2014. I think the main reason Jason was afraid of water was a behind the scenes desire to give both Freddy and Jason equal screen time winning the fights rather than it being overwhelmingly one franchise or the other.

The one thing that made me mad about this movie was they had no interest in doing it. Kane Hodder made it a point to push the idea and get Robert Englund to support it for years and years. They decide to do the movie and literally ghost Kane Hodder the best fucking Jason actor in all the movies. When he found out it was being made he actually called Robert Englund to tell him it was greenlit and then the studio left him out of it.

Remember jason is dreaming. Our fears are amplified in nightmares. Also its freddys world and he's tapping deep into his childhood when he drowned. In our daily lives we can deal with memories of trauma, but if we have nightmares about the same things, we can wake up in a sweat, terrified and have our days ruined.

Haha that's what this part in this movie reminded me of. Dreams are connected directly to the subconscious mind. Jason's younger self is afraid of water because it represents how he died in the first place. In reality he can swim through water with no problem but in the dream world his subconscious fears are triggered and amplified.

Jason is a child in his own mind. Freddy uses that to his own advantage. Jason is superior in the physical realm. Freddy is superior in the mental realm. Jason is Freddy's prey in sleep and dreams, but Freddy is a minor walkthrough in Jason's realm.

Thought i explain that in dream world, freddy is stronger. Aside from that, when we dream, we are much more vulnerable and i believe that Jason might have been vulnerable to water in the dream world. For an example, someone isnt afraid of spiders yet u are scared of them all of a sudden in ur dreams. Or you hate snakes in reality but u love them in ur dreams.

I saw this on the Thursday advanced screening, the day of the famous blackout. Me and my friends went to the theatre anyway. They had a generator and the 4 of us watched tha advanced screening in an empty theatre. It was like a private screening!
