It's the mindset that older firefighters have. Really tough to say if it's right or wrong. It seems like common sense to not go into a building with no line, also when you know the fire is directly under you. Conducting a search before hose line I'm all for but when you have no line and know the location of the fire, that's a risk I wouldn't take. Either way Rest Easy.

A fellow firefighter once said if u put hose on a fire it till only get hotter for anyone who's trapped inside so that's why when they go in without water. They search the place first before applying water
