"The Shepherd is quite a simple story: A young pilot, flying home Christmas Eve 1957, when he experiences a catastrophic electrical failure that knocks out all his equipment." explains Frederick Forsyth of this bestselling Christmas story, written in a single sitting, one Christmas Eve. "The last line is the twist in the tale."
For whom-and why- did he write this inspirational novella? We invite you to have a look at Open Road Media's exclusive video featuring Frederick Forsyth with a sneak peek into the back story of this heartwarming tale.

I came across the audio version on You Tube once. I heard Forsyth flew in the RAF and after hearing the technical details regarding flying the Vampire jet it really sunk he knew his stuff. I wonder if he heard these stories while in the service of ghostly planes appearing during the war and sometimes afterwards sometimes helping out pilots in their time of need.

My first-edition copy of THE SHEPHERD is among my most treasured possessions, and if Frederick Forsyth ever comes to Portland, OR, I'm gonna stalk the poor bloke until re relents and signs it. So there, Mr. Forsyth---you're warned...

It is a great story. It is just spoiled by the editor who put in a Stuka and a Catalina. At least there was a Vampire.
