Note: I've been informed that the clip at 20:55 is not a PSA but rather a scene from the movie "Mixed Company." My bad.

I am trying to find a PSA where these three teen boys are walking by as a guy is going in his house and they wave at him and he waves back. One of the the boys looks in his car and says that the guy left his keys. They all get in the car and joy ride through town. They run a red light and are seriously injured. Then a voice over says "lock the doors and take the keys. It might have been 1968 or even 1970. I watched several of old PSA's on You Tube but this one hasn't shown up. Anybody got a clue of what I am talking about?

Holy crap, I actually got to hear the "buckle up for safety" song my dad would always sing to me as a kid when he drove our family around! How awesome! Also, I thought the anti-drug message geared toward fathers was going to be about child abuse; that poor dad was abused as a child and needed to go to therapy to be a better, kinder father and person! I felt so bad for him! I loved the Batgirl "equal pay" PSA and it's just as relevant today as ever, and I also loved the library PSA because I will always think of libraries as magical repositories of knowledge. The film made the song popular nationwide, and the basis for the seat belt PSAs about 20 years later.

Hey FredFlix that's a pretty sweet collection of PSAs, thanks for uploading!!!! I'm actually looking for an old anti racism PSA that was made in the late 80s or early 90s. And I was wondering if you could help me identify it. In the video there is a white man walking up some steps, and parallel to him is a black man walking up the same steps. They are both walking briskly in silence and you could cut the tension with a knife. Neither man says a word, and they are slowly walking closer and closer to each other. Finally they both take out their hands to reach for a handrail that separates them. As this happens, a narrator says something along the lines of " You would think they could get along at a place like this." The video pans up from the handrail to their faces and then to the building they were both walking to : a church!!!!!! Does this PSA ring a bell? Better yet do you have it? lol . :-) . Well lmk and thanks for the good work!!!!

What the heck was the PSA around 22:33 even supposed to be for?!? I mean, clearly it's about prejudice in a larger sense, but what organization or cause? In a related question: there's a PSA that I've remembered since the '70s, in which a father is walking along through the woods with his son and they are talking about his son's friends. Both father and son are white, and the boy keeps saying things like, "Michael, my Jewish friend, says..." . "My black friend, Joey..." And his dad cuts in to ask why he doesn't just refer to them as his friends,. As a little white girl, I found this ad made such an impression on me that to this day, while I may mention a friend's race or religion if it's relevant, it is never the first thing I mention about anyone. Any idea what organization sponsored this one?
@FredFlix7 жыл бұрын
No, but you're a walking testament that PSAs work! Many of them stuck with me too, I have to say. Anyway, the one in the video is what you said, about prejudice, and I don't know who sponsored it, perhaps a church? Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
@nassmatic7 жыл бұрын
This clip is not a PSA; it's from a movie called "Mixed Company" (1974) starring Barbara Harris, Joseph Bologna, Tom Bosley and Haywood Nelson. It's about a mother of three (Barbara Harris) who runs a "color-blind" adoption program. She wants to have another child, but can't, so she adopts an African American boy named Freddie (Nelson) much to the disapproval of her racist husband, who just happens to be the head coach of the Phoenix Suns (!) The family causes a stir in the neighborhood due to Freddie's skin color, and so to counter that, the mother adopts a half-Vietnamese girl and a boy of Hopi ancestry! They then have to learn to live together.
