What till you discover Dave - his pen is on a whole other level, not one American rapper can out do his triple word plays & his amazing storytelling flows at present. He produces his own beats, plays the piano & guitar, produces a lot of of his own videos & acts in Top Boy!!! Avelino is extra level too & our mighty Little Simz is the best female rapper in the world at present, her subject matter & clever pen takes her to a whole other class then any other happening in the States. TRUST me what is happening here in the UK is eating the US alive at present!

In the kindest way I'm yet to tire of clueless Americans being surprised by quality UK rap even though I’ve practically binged on the content for 5+ years. Also, yes you'll find most of the top artists know their rap history and have listened and studied the US goats just as much, sometimes more than their counterparts. That's why you can hear the inspiration mixed into the music.

But u made another assumption. I’m not from the UK. I don’t have a dog in this fight bro just making an observation which had nothing to do with origin or even comparing quality overall. I was saying many UK artists know more about hip hop/rap history than some of their US colleagues. That’s all. Cheers mate.

I think a natural next step from this would be to do one of the Fredo x Dave tracks, like Money Talks or Funky Friday. There are so many UK lyricists, but you're going to miss of lot of it because of the huge differences in slang, plus the accents are hard with some of UK legends like Ghetts and Kano. As your ear for it develops, though... sheesh there is just so much from the last 20 plus years of UK rap. Don't miss Wretch 32 either.

We’ve got some elite artists if you know where to look Knucks has a Daily Duppy and a Colors Show, or Home would be a good place to start. He produces a lot of his own beats too I think you’d fw some of Cadets freestyles, he died in a car crash in 2019 but he was crazy talented. RIP
