Is this the easiest and fastest trellis you can build? I think so! All you need to make this cheap trellis is some garden twine, scissors (not pruners - you’ll see in the video) and bamboo poles, which you probably have somewhere in your yard. It’s all about making use of things you already have. Reusing your garden items is a great way to be sustainable. I made this in a few minutes during a break in the rain. I didn’t show all of the peas planted during this video or in my yard, but I wanted to talk about the varieties I’ve planted this year. First, I have the green snow peas mentioned in the video, Carouby de Maussane, from Baker Creek Heritage Seed . I also have a yellow sugar pod pea from San Diego Seed Company. I’ve planted two types of purple sugar snap peas, one from Johnny’s Selected Seeds, the Royal Snap II, and another from Botanical Interests, the Sugar Magnolia. I have the yellow sugar snap and the Sugar Magnolia purple snap peas planted on my new trellis, so I can’t wait until I have my first harvest. Building this trellis is such a great way to maximize the use of vertical space in my backyard, and I'm also hoping that the peas will help shade the lettuce a little bit in the heat. Growing in a pot means I can move this to a more suitable place in the garden if the weather gets too hot again.
