Free Marketplace Haul of some really good sized black cherry. This ol wood hound is always scanning marketplace for good finds and this one payed out. This huge black cherry is going to make some massive turning blanks and delicious BBQ. Grabbed my two favorite saws, ms461 and 371xp and got tonwork. I’m always in hardwood and the biggest tip I can say is don’t be afraid to let the saw eat some oil up. Bogging down might seem faster but letting it juice up for a half second makes a big difference imo. Bucking billy ray taught me tons over the years

Right, I'll try and be more conscious of that. You mean when it starts to slow down just hesitate a half second and let rpms return, then dig back in, right?

When you are blocking up a log if you don't have any wedges go up to one of the branches and break off a few little sticks and have them with you as you're making your Cuts start putting one or two little sticks in your cut it will keep the cut open enough to keep your bar from being pinched I wish you the best and keep up the good work

Thanks Bud I appreciate it. Sound advice and I'll remember that. Now I bring an axe and wedges any time I grab a saw.

A ripping chain is better for said noodling cutting with the gain in clears the chips out faster and don't clog the saw but if you are doing both cross cut and rip cuts a semi chisel works better than full chisel it bites a little less keep your rpms up as much as possible it will oil better

Not gonna lie, I've been using skip tooth for faster filling. For a while I was running a ripping chain on the 461 for noodling and skip on the 371 for bucking. I might go back to that setup again it worked pretty good and I think my cuts were smoother. Thanks bro.
