By the end of this tutorial, I have a fully working website on my new free domain name: emitreviews.us.to. Technically it's a subdomain, but it works exactly the same as a regular domain.
To get this working you just need to register for freedns.afraid.org account, create your subdomain and point any IP address to your new subdomain.
💡 If you're considering purchasing web hosting, remember that most providers offer a .com domain free of charge for at least a 12-month subscription.
📌 Although I used my hosting plan for this demonstration, you're not limited to it. Feel free to use this free domain with your gaming server IP, your VPS IP, or any other hosting plan.

Never get your sites domain name from your hosting provider. I have seen lots of folks have trouble with their hosting provider and have their domain name held hostage

@@Nick12_45 YEP Held Hostage. Let say you have a disagreement with your hosting company and want to change hosting providers. If you bought you domain name from your hosting company they can just ignore your requests to transfer your domain to the new host.

For some reason Freedns doesn't work without using VPN for me. I followed the steps until the part of installing wordpress on hostinger too, but it says my website is not connected with Hostinger nameservers, after this I changed the IP in DNS Afraid to point to Hostinger, then I notice my site only works when using VPN, if I disable it even the wordpress doesnt work.

I don't remember step by step but I'll try to explain. When you create a new Hostinger website, there is an option to get the website IP somewhere in the website panel (inside Hostinger), with that IP its possible to point the domain to your Hostinger website in Freedns by changing the "Destination" IP to your website IP. Search for "How To Setup Your Domain With fr e e d n s" on KZfaq, then watch the first tutorial, I did exactly what the tutorial said then applied the steps with Hostinger, but it should work great with other domain providers too.

This is a subdomain not a domain, you can't set your own DNS.

I don't host my mc server on the default port. I have a second server running on that one. I tried putting the port :11111 (example) after the ip but it doesn't let me do that. How do i fix this?

You shouldnt need to worry about ports. If you have a dedicated IP, just use that without the port. It should work

Because there's no such thing as free domain. Expecting free domain is like expecting a free house... You will find people willing to let you stay in a room for free for some time, but noone will give away their house.

If you renew your hosting, you won't need to do anything extra. The record will stay the same and your domain will continue working

It won't either. This website provides sub-domains NOT domains. You can manage DNS only if you own a domain but if you have a sub-domain there is no way. You will have to use the hosting provided by them. You cannot connect the sub-domain to any other platform.

Technically you're "piggy backing" off the original domain. So, as long as the owner of your chosen domain renews the base domain yours will stay active as well

Phone might have cached the site (accesing old version) give it some time or forcefully clear browser cache on phone

Yeah it takes a little bit for the DNS to propagate, for me it takes ~20minutes most of the time

1. The domains are bought and paid for by other people and they give public access to them. 2. Using this public access. You can make a subdomain (a variation of the original domain) 3. Once you make the subdomain that you want, you point it to your web hosting server or app or w/e using an IP address. You never buy, create, manage or renew any domains. This is done by the original owner, you just have a "copy" of it with your desires name thats called a sub domain

That's the nature of the service. You cant have NS or Cname because the original domain doesn't belong to you. If you would change NS or Cname the subdomains for everyone would stop working.

Sorry, but you can't. This website provides sub-domains NOT domains. You can manage DNS only if you own a domain but if you have a sub-domain there is no way. You will have to use the hosting provided by them. You cannot connect the sub-domain to any other platform.

You see this message because the original domain is pointed wherever the buyer has pointed it. Using this method you get a subdomain only. You dont actually get to use the nameservers all you get is an IP address, but as long as the A record (Ip adress) is pointed it will work fine

You can't as these are just subdomain you don't have full ownership over them. However, I would recommend grabbing a $0.99/year domain from Hostinger that you will fully own and you can create an unlimited amount of free subdomains using your main name. It's only $1 a year and it should work perfectly! www.hostinger.com/domain-name-search

You can not. For email services to work you need to have full access to the DNS and have the ability to change MX (mail) records. So, the routing works correctly. Even the free way of using Cloudflare won't work, because Cloudflare does not allow you to add a subdomain to their services. So sadly, this is a no-go for free business mail.

Sadly no, you only control a subdomain. For nameservers to work you would need to have a domain instead.

Best you'll get for free I'm afraid. Ever since Freenom shut down I didn't find a way to get a non-subdomain for free. But for 99% of people subdomain will work for what they're trying to do :)

Nope. You dont control the main domain, so its only possible to use an IP address to secure a subdomain of the main name

Any web hosting provider will do even free ones. I just used Hostinger because its what I had. All you need is an IP address of your server, the server can be from anywhere.

Well, it's a subdomain. So, the way it works is that some people who own the domains add them to the website and allow people to create subdomains using them. So in theory as long as the original domain owner keeps renewing his domain it'll continue to work.

1. Domain is working. Its probably a skill issue on your part. Point your IP address via A record to any server and it works. 2. You dont have to use Hostinger. Its not mandatory. The tutorial is over even before I get to that part. Its just a demonstration on how pointing an A record looks. Use any server or any provider that you have and itll work. If you dont have any server, why do you need a domain? If you have nowhere to point it. It wont work. Its like buying shoes when you dont have legs

1. Sign up on freedns.afraid.org 2. Choose a subdomain name 3. Open up a new browser tab 4. Go to your hosting provider and copy the IP address of your server 5. Go back to freedns.afraid.org 6. Paste in the IP address into freedns.afraid.org, next to the domain name you've chosen. 7. That's it. If you also want an SSL you can get it from your hosting provider (if they offer free ones). Or just use a Free SSL method that I have here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ft6UnMh81pu0l30.html
